Reverb on FX1 slot hack

Hey,
I was suggested to create a topic to talk about limitations and discuss this hack/ bug in general.
The idea is that you can copy an FX2 page with dark reverb and paste it into FX1 page, you won’t see any of the reverb settings after pasting ( in fact it will be a blank page) it but you can clearly hear the reverb which makes FX2 free to use for the delay.

There are some caveats tho, having two reverbs can cause some artefacts, so it’s important to remove the reverb from FX2 after copying it before pasting it into FX1. Can it be used on all the tracks? Can it cause any performance issues while using Octatrack? Memory leaks etc ?

Maybe someone from @Elektron could advise.

Great hack again!

Will they understand what’s happening ?

Pretty weird. 2 max if you want to avoid clicks/artifacts, to be confirmed, from what I just tested :

  • It works properly on tracks 1/3/5/7 only
  • You can’t have 1+3 or 5+7
  • You can have 1+5, 1+7, 3+5, 3+7
  • Doesn’t work on Master Track

I could use 2 tracks with FX1 reverb, + 6 tracks with reverb.

  • You can use scenes and plocks!
Set scenes previously with another FX1, and then apply the FX2 copy.
Same for plocks; also possible to set the plocks on another track > copy / paste the trigs.

  • works with lfos

  • Midi control of parameters doesn’t seem possible.

  • Works with other reverbs, I didn’t succed with Delay.

  • You can use any FX2 after the FX1 Reverb, except reverbs (clicky).

Wow nice ‘tip’! Now i’m curious if it will work on all tracks or if the CPU can’t handle it what happens… not near my OT now.

Otherwise you have uggly artifacts, worse on certain tracks.

This one weird trick has Octatrack users delighted.

Yeah, drones made easy with long 100% wet reverb + delay in 1 track!
Reverb + phaser/chorus/flanger, reverb + compressor ! I also experienced Plate reverb set as a noise gate + delay, or a compressor.

Great hack! Not by my OT now. so I can’t try, but I suppose someone’s tried copying delay in to an FX1 slot?

Amazing. Helluva find.

I wonder if it’s an easter egg in the code: “dark”, or invisible?

That is one clickbait headline that this elektronaut would 10/10 click on! :joy:
