Hello fellow Syntakteers, here’s a new lab…

New lab up here:
Hello peeps! I hope you are well, and have had a good start of the new year.
A little update on the Syntakt Science Labs…
We started the SSL series in the beginning of July 2025, and have thus been at it for 6 months straight. I’ve had great fun and learnt a lot through these labs, and hope some of you’ have had the same experience.
An overview of the machines we’ve done, and which ones we have left.
- Digital: We’ve covered 9 of 11 sound generating machines
- Analog: We’ve covered 21 of 30 machines (including cymbals and UT)
- That’s 30 machines covered through 15 labs
- …and 11 machines left
Remaining digital machines:
- BD Modern
- SD Vintage
Remaining analog machines:
- BD Classic
- BD Plastic
- BD Sharp
- BD Acoustic
- SD FM
- SD Natural
- SD Classic
- SD Hard
- SY Raw
Plan for the future
Since we’ve covered around 75% of the machines in the ST by now, my plan is just to carry on in the same fashion until the end. The only thing stopping me is if I end up being the sole participant! ![]()
The number of participants has been low in the last three labs, though picking up slightly in the SY Bits lab. As I’ve said before, I don’t expect anyone to particiapte in every lab from start to end (although a couple of users have). It’s only natural if you get bored, have other prioritites, busy schedules or whatever. I’m just happy for aynone finding the time to particiapte ![]()
Back in August we talked about rounding off the SSL series with a sound pack to celebrate all the work and the nice results from the labs. Have any of you followed up this idea? I haven’t, but I think it’s manageable to go back and export the interesting ones. As said before, the curation might require a bit of work. Let me know your thoughts, or if you have other ideas.
As always, I’m open to any suggestions
Hit me up here or in pm if you have any thoughts.
Cheers,
Nils
Well you know I’m always in for a lab. ![]()
I think what also might be worth considering is the ‘oddballs’ or ‘Nord Drum’ like labs for the future. Or genre based labs like ‘make a neuro bass’, ‘acid line’ or something like that with whatever machine you deem fit.
I’m speaking from personal preference here of course as that’s what I’m sort of doing with my ST videos atm.
@Nils I love these challenges and really enjoy participating and listening to all the submissions! Let’s keep going! I think we’re all learning a ton of cool tricks and techniques from each other.
I also want to apologize for not being very active recently though. The year end pretty much from August through New years is full of birthdays holidays and events for my family. It just keeps ramping up! I love playing music, but family first!
But I’m gonna be back to it! Finally I’ll have weekends and free time!
I do love and deeply appreciate your dedication @Nils and the same applies to everyone’s contributions! I am all for continueing and creating sound packs. And while I usually do have plenty of time at my disposal, it’s usually my very own lack in discipline that prevents me from contributing more often and “in time”. Please, let’s keep going!
Thanks so much for the encouragement
You people are awesome
We will continue for sure! And I’ll be a sad git when the regular SSL is over…
@Oxenholme Great suggestion! That’s 100% within the spirit of the Science Lab imo, so if you have any suggestions let me know. There were threads like that before we started the SSLs too (Latin perc, fingersnapping, Syntakt choir etc) that were super fun, and we should definitely have more of that.
That said, I certainly don’t “own” the Syntakt Science Labs by any means. I’ll chug away on the regular machine SSLs until we’re done, but any other labs or challenges is of course free for anyone to start ![]()
@PentalagusMusic No worries! I know how it is
We’re always happy to listen to your sounds/tunes when you find the time to make them!

Syntakt Science Lab #19: SD FM & SD Hard - Elektronauts / Science Lab - Elektronauts
May I suggest an AFX SSL based on the Analog FX bus alone?
Possibly with UT impulse routed in it if we need to ping a delay with high feedback…
Coudl be much fun ![]()
Absolutely! Cool idea
I’ll launch it after the current lab has been running one more week or two.
So, one IMP machine is allowed to excite the delay and the FX filter? Apart from that it’s all delay feedback and FX filter ringing, right?
Yes, and AFX filter and Amp envelope + FX plocks to shape them ![]()
Awesome. I’m thinking there’s a lot of fun to be had routing let’s say the delay before the filter, and the reverb after. Or vice versa ![]()
You can actually play live with routing ^^
