Syntakt Science Lab

Totally deserved :yum:

By the way, for people like me that had the rich idea to get rid of the Syntakt right before the previous update, the HH Lab offers quite some crazy sounds!!
Just saying ^^

Absolutely. HH lab is worth a separate study, though I lumped it into SSL nr 3.

For example, check out @mishpult 's HH Lab guitar sound:

Wow!

HH Lab is really crazy
I wish we could change the transient though ^^

I dont spend much time posting on forums, I read/listen mostly, but, after spending the best part of an hour going through the links and listening to whats been created here…damn, Im like a baby with rattle in comparison  First time I have some across this thread about using one or 2 machines and making a track…just updated the OS as well. Definitely gonna try these challenges, at the very least it should give me a better understanding of the Syntakt, and wow…super impressed with everything you guys have all created. Got a pair of Palmer Orbit 11’s coming tomorrow as well :grimacing: :see_no_evil: :joy: so gonna be noodling away on the ST, just to see how crazy, say the SD drum can be made to sound

Cool! Feel free to post some audio if you come across some neat tricks or cool sounds

I have had a go at it…surprised at what I got out of it to be fair :see_no_evil::joy: But just realised the sound I selected wasn’t in the list at the start of this thread:rofl: I used SD Classic so Ive posted the results here. 3 X SD classics, nothing fancy going on, but I am happy that I can actually get close to creating sounds that I was going for…the kick and pluck on 9 & 11 I had no idea that I could get these out of a snare for example and a standard snare on 10

using overbridge and not set up for the FX track so reverb and delay from stock ableton

Hah, you’re ahead of your time :sunglasses: We have five labs left, and SD Classic is one of them. The current one (SP Twinshot) will probably run a little longer than usual since it’s completely new for all us, and offers so many new approaches. We will get back to the regular ones in a couple of weeks though  And all of the previous ones are still open, these labs will never close.

Nice meaty sound to the drums :+1:

Thanks Nils…I read a fair bit in that hour listening to peoples tracks and how they get to a better low end, and using the HP filter and fine tuning it really helps pick up that low end on a kick drum from a sound not technically designed for it like the classic snare. Ive just had a mess around on Alloy because of finding this thread, and Im getting much much better natural sounding hats from using the mod destinations…it’s actually mind boggling to me that slapping a pan on a really high rate with careful tuning of the depth, and the decays in SYN, the pan isnt noticeable at all, but its making alloy sound much more like a natural hat…to my ears at least :joy:

Edit…I should probably mention that ive always understood the way a synth works, and in my head I understand the mod section, but ive always just gone, right so I’ll slowly modulate this bit, or slightly faster and get the same result basically…what finding this thread has done for me is to throw the baby out with the bath water, and go as nutty as possible with it…then pull back a little and now you’ve got a unique sound with options :joy::+1:t2:

Don’t hesitate to go as crazy as possible and post your experiments there if they don’t fit the SSL.
Just don’t mention gear there, it’s only pure wildness.

Go raw! #DIV/0!
