Just a whim:
Do you think it would it be fun to do a special SSL for speech synthesis?
Or is it too far out? ![]()
Once Elektron finally ports it from the Monomachine to the Syntakt… Sure ![]()
Nah, that’s far too easy ![]()
I was just thinking that it has a few basic synth engines and filters, and many ways of controlling them. So it should be theoretically possible to form an “a”, “e” etc with a sawtooth and two resonant filter, and sounds like “k” and “t” should be possible with noise and some clever envelope settings. I’m not expecting very lifelike impersonations, just thought it would be a fun exercise.
Regarding the main SSL series; are you peeps ready for a new machine? I think maybe we need to do a bass drum next. There’s quite a few of them, and I think it’s a good idea to spread them out a bit. I’m open to suggestions ![]()
BD FM ![]()
On a side note: I just made a complete drum kit out of SY BITS which was also a fun challenge (to me at least)
Thanks, noted ![]()
Cool
SY Bits is incredibly flexible. I’m guessing that’s going to be a fun lab.
Hot take: SY Bits with a couple more modulation options and perhaps a transient shaper at the end would have made a cracking vintage sounding drum machine by itself. And I would buy it ![]()
I actually feel that way about several machines in the Syntakt. They’re good enough to stand alone as single instruments. Maybe not with the exact same interface, but the flexibility they offer in combination with their control options make them good enough to stand on their own.
Yeah agree. I think that’s one of Syntakt’s greatest strengths and also what makes it maybe harder to fathom for some and get to the good bits. But that’s what these science labs are for!
Summary
The greater glory of SY TOY ![]()
Yeah, Sy Bits should be a really fun one! Already looking forward to it
.
I remember that making a track with Sy Bits only, was one of the first things I did when I got my ST in 2022.(never did it again though)

Cool ![]()
I was just thinking about this last night when playing with the CP Vintage and its Body parameter where it made a kind of “ow” sound. I was wondering if certain machines would be better at synthesising certain vowels than others e.g CP Vintage would be good for “oh -ow” but not “Mmm” so creating a word would require more than one machine.
Definitely would be a cool Lab ![]()
Just a quick reminder: the forum engine lets you search by file types.
So if you want to find all uploaded Syntakt files, you can use this search prompt:
filetypes:stprj,stsnd,syx
And if you want to look for files uploaded by a specific user, just add their username:
filetypes:stprj,stsnd,syx @usernamе
Might be worth adding this to the first post in the thread — could make someone’s life a bit easier. ![]()
What do you think, @Nils?
You’re full of good ideas
I’ll look into it later
Bleh I’ve had such a string of personal shit going on these past few months and have a bunch of unfinished science lab tracks to upload. Looking forward to finishing them up and getting them out here, and also seeing what everyone else has been doing with the labs while I’ve been inactive!
Sorry to hear that. I hope things will pick up for you. Looking forward to your tracks ![]()
New lab is up here:
Hey peeps, a new Science Lab Special called “Syntakt Oddballs” is up here:
@Nils sorry for bothering again ![]()
Can you please add the link to SSLS#2 to the first post? Thanks!
I forgot again?
Sorry, will do tomorrow when I’m in front my PC, it’s a hassle on mobile
(And thanks for reminding me
)
Hey peeps,
after our deep dive into the surprising world of the BD FM, it’s time for a new lab. This time I’m lumping two machines together in one lab; RS Hard and RS Classic. The new thread will be up soon ![]()
Edit: it’s up here:
