Torso T1 Algorithmic Sequencer

Not seeing anything. I get a 404 on ‘preorders’ page…

This looks promising because of the support for user scales.

I will wait for a while though, and watch for reports from the wild. I haven’t seen any demos of auto-generated chord progressions on the level of the Piano Motifs app yet. The chord progressions don’t sound that much different than what I’ve heard from devices like the OP-Z - just normal, diatonic functional harmony. The Piano Motifs dev, in comparison, is versed in the compositional techniques of the likes of Debussy and it shows in his app.

I can’t find any explicit indication that this is “Class compliant” on the USB MIDI. Does anyone know if it is?

One of the advantages I see is that its portable nature invites you to use it on all sorts of synths, drum machines, laptops, modules, and, hopefully iPhones & iPads.
It would be nice to have it running on my iPhone XS for portable creation, and then take that sequence into the studio to control my heavily modulated Pro 2 instead.

I will answer my own question for those interested.

I contacted Torso directly with the question and they quickly confirmed that the T1 is indeed, USB MIDI Class Compliant.

I was pretty sure they said in the kickstarter.

Cool! They should include it on their website as well for people who are only now just finding out about it via Instagram and the like.

I can totally see it being one of those things where (as the designer) it so obviously must be that they forget it’s not actually a given. But yes, they should. Really cannot wait for this one to ship.

I had another very interesting session and demonstration of the T-1 last night where Jonas showed some insane sequences with it

What I found astonishing was how this fast midi note modulation sequencing can be used to make a lot of very musical expressions ranging from all kinds of shifting rhythms and orchestral endings to bouncing balls and fast strums - just playing a single plucky sound with it. Really impressive and fun and something I’m looking much forward to be experimenting with using it with my hardware instruments.

I should have gotten in on the Kickstarter for this, looks amazingly flexible and inspiring. Currently waiting on a used version to show up on eBay.

1st batch is sold out…

Had to take a order, this thing has something I want. I bet it will be fun!!

Decided against the Oxi One Hardware Sequencer, sigh

I too have ordered. Looks like it could really help when developing ideas. I also looked and considered the oxi, but thought this looked more suitable for getting inspiration. Really looking forward to hooking it up with bitwig and my DN.

This one doesn’t do traditional sequencing at all, right? You gotta take the dive here and accept that life and midi sequences are random, with more or less control, right?

Not right.

You can enter or subtract trigs manually as you’d like.

The key functionality is Euclidean pulses added or subtracted, but you can edit as you please.
