This guy is stealing our uploads and claiming them as his own

AO Musikk is posting a bunch of videos and music from other artists and taking credit, including me @jayhosking, and @waftlord. He’s since deleted our videos from youtube and tracks from soundcloud and bandcamp after talking to him (or in my case, reporting him), but I figured you could look for yourselves if he’s posted anything of yours.

I just wanted to play video games tonight, not report a bunch of individual tracks each on several platforms.

Edit 30.08.2023

I see what gear is used, then search that gear on youtube and sort by date. I have a chrome extension called Clickbait Remover that changes out all thumbnails with a random screen grab from the video so you can see what’s in the video at a glance.

thanks for flagging this Eaves.

seems their approach is upload as much as possible so people have a bore to search through.
trying to get clout with the algorithm or something…?
shitty low level behaviour, taking (edit: profiteering from!) small creators art and turn it into your under the radar content.

disgusting.

it does makes me concerned people could go all out, try and publish others stuff as their own…
be vigilant lovely people.x

I’m so glad that this forum is full of people like eaves who are looking out for other forum members and not just after their own interests. Thanks for being so aware and on top of the situation.

What in the actual fuck though, do we have to figure this is a forum member here or is it someone just grifting the music posts?

Just wait for him to blow up, then sue the bejesus out of him. Joking. Obviously that behaviour sucks. Where are they taking the music from? Your YouTube, SoundCloud or on here?

I was shown on discord by someone who also happens to be on @mpiecora’s discord, so it really was a community effort

My tracks are from youtube. Including the signature button press sounds :stuck_out_tongue:

The fucking gall of it….
What an unbelievable asshole.

Damn. I’m surprised the algorithms don’t pick it up as duplicate content or else pay you for someone else using your music/videos. I guess that why big labels have teams to sift it out.

There’s a lot of uploads to that bandcamp. I hate to take the position of “where there’s smoke, there’s fire” but one has to assume that it’s all stolen content… is it possible someone can report him to bandcamp from an artist account? will they take his account down if it’s duplicate content, or just remove the content itself? this is really unnerving.

I’ve spoken directly with the person at this point. They sound quite apologetic, and I want to believe that this behaviour won’t continue.

They also say that much of the other music posted is their own, but I think it’s fair to check for your work there if you’re a regular poster somewhere.

My work isn’t good enough to steal.

Reporting on bandcamp involves sending a mail, but while I wrote down all the copyright infringements he removed all my tracks from there. Here’s what I managed to write down:

Here’s a list of the tracks I made that he posted as his own. He removed these tracks while I was writing this list, but did see that he had several more of my tracks posted as his own.

So they’re desperate for clout. Sad times

I’m curious what that apology sounded like. How does one apologize for getting caught red handed stealing someone else’s music and passing it off as their own….
I’m sowwy!

This was my impression. Definitely felt sad rather than heinous.

if you upload jams to youtube check his uploads, some videos have a weird filter and his range of gear and camera setups/quality smells awkwardly rotten.

I’m happy to talk directly if you want to send me a message, but I’d prefer not to discuss the particulars publicly. I hope you can understand.

I was wondering this as well. I don’t think there’s any apology I would ever accept for this.

I’m guessing that’s all the fucking psytrance.

See, I told you fuckers not to trust these psytrance wankers.

That’s a lot of music. Frankly, I didn’t expect such an expansive list, especially since you didn’t even note it all down.

Doesn’t that bother the person stealing it at all? How does one expect to follow through on riding the wave of someone else’s talent? literally just play back someone else’s tracks verbatim out of a laptop at a gig or something?

I mean sure it’s flattering that someone likes your creation so much they want to take credit for it, but this is in extremis, it’s not just trying to brag to your friends “hey look what I made”, that profile is set up to look as though they’re some savant creator. Just the way it’s worded, given the situation, makes me a bit upset.
