Damn, I killed the old thread… ![]()

…And like a phoenix, it rises from the ashes…

We laughed. We cried. We yelled. We forked over $1,699 we didn’t have. The old thread was never about the MPC. It was about the enemies we made along the way.
You ain’t the first. There were 2 others before you. Akai should send you prize for keeping an MPC thread going on an Elektron site.

Let’s keep the vibe going my legion of 3 ![]()

I feel a bit bad about it. Snuffed out in its prime!
On the other hand, there have been a total of 30,000 posts on the subject. Elektronauts seem to love their MPCs… ![]()
Is this the fastest sequel thread has gone through 10,000 post?
Edit: just a bit over two years for the part two thread, about one year for the part three thread. More than half the posts in the part three thread happened in the last two and a half months. It’s kind of bonkers how much hype, how many arguments, and generally how much passion the live 3 release stirred up.
Thin line between love and hate… ![]()
3 weeks with Live 3 got me pulling up to the studio like a world eater. MV, SP, DT2, DN2…all dust now. So be it. I figured it out. It’s def not a creative tool. It’s a tool meant for destruction. Only then can I build the new world upon the ashes of this confused state of stasis.

Right after @Suspect_Frequency leaked the plugin too, they’re trying to silence yall
I definitely don’t hate my Live 3. I have spent many hours in my studio every day since pulling it out of its box. I haven’t been this productive for a very long time. Is it love? No. I love the VCS3. I love Kyma. And I love my Moog. I love a number of the instruments in my studio. At the moment, the MPC is more a medium through which to document or express my love for those instruments and for music making in general.
Never let 'em see what’s in the back of the van until after the announcement.
Mine is on order, so excited. I’ve had an MPC 1000, MPC Live 1, MPC One and MPC4k at different times. Just sold my S2400, which was a big decision as that thing sounds so good. But the MPC Live 3 looks like it addresses all the shortcomings in a nicely sized package. The USB Audio for me is the main selling point, and i can get rid of so many cables. I just cant wait to get into the step sequencer and the pads.
My DN2 is looking very nervous. Can’t sell it yet as one of the LEDs is broke so need to get it fixed.
Anyone noticed that the status of muted Tracks using the Track Mute mode on the top most row of small pads is NOT reflected anywhere else?
If I set the top row to Track Mute mode and mute a Track using the pads in that row, that mute status is not reflected anywhere else on the Live 3 (on the Mixer as an M, on the Main page, etc.).
Is this result intentional, or is this worth reporting as a bug.m? It caught me out for a bit when I could not hear a Track that was muted using the Track Mute mode but did not have the Mute symbol (M).
Thanks!
can you carry mute states of a sequence into an arrange as removed notes still?
and does this also work for pad mutes as well as track mutes?
So based on the image name I think I was right when I said it will be (new plugin):
From the now old MPC thread: My guess is that this is some sort of a DTE (Double Tracking Effect) which is a simulation of the famous artificial double tracking recording technique. The artificial double tracking effect was introduced in 60’s to give a richer and wider sound.
The signal of a source tape player is routed to a second tape recorder-player.
This second tape records the source and plays it back adding both signals but not in a synchronous way.
The synchronization depends on the playhead position of the second tape recorder-player.
By changing the head tape position (with some sort of LFO or manually) it changes the speed of the tape player, generating weird sounds on the timbre and the pitch.
based on the picture name on the website, which is “tdt-header-banner” ![]()
tdt probably means tape double tracking
Kinda. The data nerd in me has been tracking reply volumes and comparing with the TR-1000 and the victory in this round goes to Akai. Perhaps because sentiment was so negative when first photos leaked and then there was no real marketing campaign, the actual reveal surprised everyone in a positive way/
If it’s anything like the strymon deco, I’ld be pretty stoked! And would probably sell my deco ![]()
