Machinedrum MK1 x OT

I’ve been plotting on a Machinedrum for a while now.

I had a sonic potions lxr and really liked the sound and I imagine a Machinedrum would be similar.

I plan on sequencing the MD with the OT to make use of conditional trigs and micro timing.

My main question is, what would I be missing out on by getting a MK1 vs an MK2.

From my understanding the MK2’s have longer pattern lengths? And I’m imagining since I’m sequencing it with the OT it shouldn’t matter.

I also know I won’t be able to sample but I could use a couple OT tracks to layer some sample based percussion if needed.

Also curious if big boomy 808 trap sounding kicks are possible with the MD?

Yes. Check some MD examples in videos etc to hear examples of this kind of thing.

Do I need Machinedrum if I have OT already?

Obviously they’re not the same animal, but is there big territory that the MD covers that I can’t do with the OT? I’ve never touched a MD. (Saw one in a shop once. It’s lovely!)

i think the OT is a great supplement to the Machinedrum.

Machinedrum - Still relevant or a nostalgia piece?

As the years go by and my knowledge slowly increases I’ve begun to realize how capable and powerful the Machinedrum still is. Some aspects of the kit management and saving UI feels a bit ‘of its time’, but that in no way makes it any less relevant.

OT & MD (non-UW)

I’ve been planning on getting a Rytm, but I am still drawn to the MD, and lately I’ve seen several SPS-1 mk1 units at quite attractive prices. I have an OT and A4 (and other gear but that’s beside the point). I wonder how well the MD fits with OT, especially for things like bank/patch changes and so on, since the sequencer changed from the OT onwards. I’m not worried about the UW aspect - it’s nice, but I don’t think I really want to pay for it, I’m more interested in pure synthesis and the OT …

(help!) My Octatrack is adjusting my MachineDrum tracks via MIDI

Greetings Fellow Elekronauts! I have a show coming up at the end of the week so I’m trying to get this settled as soon as possible. I only noticed it happening yesterday: I am using an Octatrack and a Machinedrum together. The Octatrack has MIDI out being sent to the MIDI in of the Machinedrum for the purposes of tempo sync and control (only so far as to start the Machinedrum when I press play on the Octatrack). The other day I noticed that the SD track of the Machinedrum could not be heard. …

MachineDrum with sampler redundant for Octatrack owner?

if you got the dough and space go get a (used md non uw if you wanna keep GAS low) … if I am on the OT and create some drum loops, I pretty much after 14 min run into, boy am I happy to have a MD here! … just think of tweaking that highhead, ups hihat, there just a little bit, or a retrigger of the snare (not to mention CTL machine ) , doing that on a OT is “impossible” because you only have 8 tracks ( make that 4 tracks for dums and sound locks within those, and you get a 6 maybe 8 poliphony)…

Octatrack changing patterns on Machinedrum

Has anyone successfully been able to use the Octatrack (when its the master clock) to change patterns in the Machinedrum via program changes? If so, how was it done (aside of just effecting a program change on the appropriate MIDI channel)? Thanks.
