Digitakt and Octatrack - how much do they overlap?

What is there to gain from adding a Digitakt to a setup that already has an Octatrack?

Anyone here have an ot dt combo? I’ve had my digitakt for nearly a year and I love it, but I am about to make my dreams come true and buy an octatrack. I’m imagining that the digitakt will take the place of a drum machine since the sampling is more effective on the octatrack but I’m wondering if I’ll even use the digitakt anymore since I can slice up drum samples and parameter lock one shot drums on the octatrack. Digitakt looks nice but I already bought OT mk II. I don’t understand why Elektron didn’t make OT like DT. Did they think it was kinda cannibalism? I don’t own a DT but it looks has better looking GUI and more intutive. Most of all, the sound and FXs seem better. Also colors look better(even the display’s). I can’t afford DT and if I can I like to add more syth(there are so many fine and affordable ones nowadays) so I’m just wondering if OT can upgrade at least FX by firmware or OS. If the sy…

Digitakt as drum machine with OT mk2: worth it?

Hey Everyone, New Elektron user here. I just got an OT Mk2 and am exploring it. I’m an experienced musician, but this is my first sampler. Before I usually made sound collages using an old Windows laptop, dumping field recordings and samples into 20-30 Winamps opened at the same time. I’m actually still going to do that combined with the Octarak, as well as use it for my song-oriented recordings. Enrique Martinez did a comparison between these 2, I vastly preffered machine 2 (Enrique preffered machine 1) Anyway here is the video, quite interesting and try to decide which you prefer before the reveal at the end. To me machine 1 was crisper but machine 2 had much better bottom end and more punch.
