Will there be Octatrack MK3 anytime soon?

They can just call it the Octatrack 2X

Solves for any dilemma as to how to name a non-3 / post-MKII product

And I’m ready to buy it whenever

In all honest, I don’t think there will ever be a Octatrack mk3 looking at the how Elektrons product portfolio has been evolving since they released the Octatrack. Products that are intuitive, easy to get around and get things going is the way forward to reach more users and sell more products. Octatrack doesn’t fit that bill.

I don’t think there will be a new iteration of OT. Complete rewrite, new hardware.
Without Recorder tracks and scenes / crossfader I wouldn’t affiliate it with OT, whatever new name is.

Not for everyone. Button combinations and all trig modes can confuse some people.

I am more comfortable with OT for simple things like track selection, keyboard mode, bank / pattern selection.

I am still not used to new Digi2s Trk / Ptn / Bank buttons selection, oftenly select song mode instead of mutes mode, and I confuse track / pattern selection everyday : close buttons, exactly same led colors. This is really pissing me off.

Or the new design language could be adapted to something similar to the OT, use the workflow improvements learned from the Digi boxes/Syntakt, simplify the interaction to be more straightforward after learning all the ergonomics issues we had since the OT came out, etc.

It doesn’t need to be a OT 3, it could still be a performance sampler/mixer but improved with all the learning about what made the original OT be seen as a hard piece of hardware to understand/master

I am waiting for OS 1.5 first, then OS 2.0 will be the OT III.

Also the AR is a $2000 drum machine. Same machine for the past many years not getting any cheaper. How many of us is willing to buy a $2400 or more OT III Anytime Soon Edition?

I would bet money if Elektron releases an OT³ with enough new features for $2400 it will fly off the shelves (relatively speaking). Would I buy it? No, but I’ve not owned an OT before. Doesn’t change the fact that Octatrack is a legendary sampler, and $2400 is in the ballpark of what a flagship device costs from most companies these days.

(OT)³
That’s too much power for $2400

The merch says “to eternity/forever”.

So this thread’s answer clearly is No/NEVER.

An octatrack with some more of the modern Elektron immediacy… basically a crossfadered DT with record buffers and more multi fx, outs…

I get how that’s too close to DT, but it seems like an obvious choice to have ready for when OT finally stops doing top 10 sampler sales numbers

But yeah there’s a fantastic octatrack already on the market selling, so there’s no rush… they can spend another 10 years perfecting it if need be, but it will make sense to have ready at some point and the crossfader sampler is an Elektron calling card I think

I suspect they’ll wait to sell more sleepy +FX and dt2 hotcakes, and maybe till the economy is better, before putting out something like this. And really making sure it can sell for another 20 years before replacing something so beloved as the og. That means making sure the chorus is as good, etc…

but in that “2010-eternity” we already have OT mkI & II
so why not mks III, IV…?

In other words:
maybe it says OT is till eternity, no matter how many mks it takes?

further good news: the crossfader is apparently included in that eternity

I’ve been trying to figure out the white ones myself… The Boss ones are the Space Echoes.

I think the white one could be the obne float

5 buttons on each side plus dual faders in the center.

yes, this is the old blood float. Custom fader cap to push both filters at once, looks like.

The Scene Fader with all the capabilities was one of the greatest Innovation in the History of Electronic Music Instruments.
After the Release of OT ibought it immediately,
and since then i am in Love with the OT,
i found the Fader concept so Genius that i hoped Elektron will build a Fader in every new Machine they released and was disappointed every Time something new came out.

A Octatrack Mk3 in the Format of the Big A4 and Analog Rytm with expanded Features, Capabilities and a better Sound Engine is a Dream for me and an Instant Buy no matter how high the price is.
