Will there be Octatrack MK3 anytime soon?

No…One Fader is enough…Reduce to the Max to force Creativity…

for sure 1 is more than enough, just being cheeky. OT has always been most fun “performance” sampler for me, definitely surprising that other than the akai force that hasn’t been many samplers that have a fader on them. I wish there would be atleast 1 Q-Link fader on the modern MPC machines, but only encoders :frowning:

YEAHHhhh…but…why isn’t it on all Elektron machines ?
A4 Macros at least.
AR Perf didn’t make it for me.
Control All is just momentarily ok.

How about 8 faders and 1 track? I’m sure this suggestion has been made before.

Maby it will be hexakaidecatrack, 6 analog synth tracks and 10 sampler tracks in same style like octa

I think the Octatrack as it is is a relict of ancient times. Mass market wasn‘t really the target, its an instrument for professionals. Times are changing - we will not see another box here where study of manual is a have to. Octatrack without serious study is not worth it, but people just want fun&giggles.

I would not count on OT3.

I would happily part with more than the price of an ARmk2 for a modernised iteration and have it be bigger, I have a short but not exhaustive wishlist:

-Top tier sound quality, I’m talking on a par with Rossum Electro Music Assimil8or.
-ins and outs level meters
-8x inputs
-Better effects
-Get rid of the barrier between flex & static machines
-MIDI usb and a dedicated file management system
-MIDI under the influence of the crossfader
-Smoothing out the complexity wouldn’t hurt… nor would a rewrite of the hideous manual.

EDIT: I also want ADSR envelopes with log/exp curves (log/exp on all Elektron devices is sort of weird it isn’t there already). AND! to be able to rename MIDI CC assignments.

These days, it seems like we are getting less connectivity, less multitimbrality, less flexibility from semi-professional devices.

All the things you want to add to the OT are available as other instruments, just plug them in. Need more i/o? buy another one

MkIII

I will innofade all over this place if that became a reality.

I was under the impression there would never be any more octatracks. The people who made it are dead or no longer with the company. I would love an MKIII tho. Like everyone else

Thomas Edison is dead but we keep getting better lightbulbs

The true magic of a OTMK3 would be that it feels like an instrument, keeping the OT spsirit and that is modern enough without it being a DAW in box like an MPC One.

So much has happened hardware and software wise since OT release, it’d be a tough to draw the line and not overload it.

At the some time, would better FX, more inputs and less learning involved be a real contender to as a worthy successor?

I mean look at the Digitakt 2. Give it a few more machines and fx and flexible routing like neighbors and more inputs and you’d be pretty close to what people are missing on the OT wishing for an MK3.

Maybe be a bit far fetched, and blasphemous to compare these two. Just MHO

real talk, if someone made a reason rack extension tomorrow that 100% bottled the OT functionality to include parts and scenes/slider…

who would :exploding_head:

and who would  “but what is it?” “why”

Performance”. Not the OT. We are the performers.
MKIII should make us better performers.

“A relict of ancient times…” (post above somewhere) But compared to what machines of which historical eras?

eh yes. but kinda like saying this guy can actually fly

OT3 could even be the same chassis, just next gen computers and upgraded weapons. that’s how they keep tanks and fighter jets in service for decades
