Having trouble posting photos. This forum is fairly buggy
Trying again…
Is that the new portable base case? Awesome set up!
Wow that case is wicked.
Would love to see some videos. Link us up!
I need to build a new case. I built a 3U but now I have a second HEK and I’d like to build something along the lines of your new case. Need to scrounge some wood or finally bite the bullet on a case build.

I’m so happy I got Linix. At first I thought it was going to be overkill but turns out having lots of VCA’s is a blessing!
I’m getting a e350 soon as well…I’m not sure how I overlooked the e350 initially…everyone I talk to says it’s a sick module. It’s good to hear you like it as well.[/quote]
Nice! I’m a bit torn over whether to get two uVCA’s or just a Linix. Seems like two uVCA’s might be a bit more flexible, but at the same time you lose some of the mixing possibilities. We’ll see!
I got my Frames yesterday, and - wow! Just wow. This thing is brilliant. The resolution of the Frames modulation is pretty awesome. I just made 7-8 keyframes modulating timbre and color on Braids, and FM and frequency on Ripples (which Braids was connected to). The fed a super slow envelope from Maths into the ‘Frames’ input, and got this lovely, lovely drone;
I’m not usually a fan of drones, I generally find them very boring, but I sat there completely mesmerized for this one - and take no credit for it, by the way, purely the work of the brilliant modules that are Braids, Maths and Frames. ![]()
It is indeed. My OCD got the better of me and I had to have it to go with the case I already had .
I can highly recommend the Doepfer suitcases. They are built like tanks. Kinda wish they had a sliding nut rail mechanism. You can get the modules to fight more tightly with those. But on the other hand it’s quicker and easier to mount modules with these rails.
Well, so the Frames-E350-Braids-Maths combo is completely blowing my mind! Wow. Let’s just say that getting a Frames is a pretty safe bet. I’ll probably get another as soon as I can afford one. That thing is just genius.
And the E350 and the Braids complement each other so well you’d think they were made for each other. Morphing around wavetables in the E350 while morphing around with the timbre/color inputs on the Braids is just ridiculous. It’s almost too easy to make something that sounds awesome.
Ok so how is overbridge going to fit into the cv side of things? I’m wondering what overbridge is going to look like but if they follow through with what they said they would well it makes rytm. Into a completely different proposition as well.
But will overbridge make cv sequencing easier / faster and. Give it expert sleepers type functionality? Actually is the I/o on the analog stuff dc coupled?
I don’t think that overbridge is two way. I think it streams the A4 to the computer but not the computer to the A4… at least that’s my impression. I may very well be wrong about that.
Holy crap, Ripples is a sweet sounding filter! Damn. Been toying around with using the E350 as an LFO modulating the FM and resonance on Ripples, and it’s just bliss. It just self-oscillates like the slickest motherfucker. Liquid, indeed! Wow, super happy I got one.
And little demo of some filter sweetness (E350/Maths and Frames modulating it with Braids put into it);
I’m so glad you’re enjoying the combo!
I have to agree wholeheartedly; the E350 and Braids are just amazingly musical. Who says only analogue is beautiful? ![]()
Anyone got advice on settings for sending Envelopes out from the A4?
Using CV Value, but not sure on voltage range? At 0v +5v I can still hear sound when sending an envelope to a VCA. Also the envelope stages seem to be messed-up, the VCA is definitely not opening and closing as per the envelope shape
I think most things will respond to 0v to +5v though some modules may be different. When using the A4 envelopes to control an external VCA make sure the value is set to 0. When I first tried it I forgot about that and was scratching my head wondering why the envelope wasn’t closing the VCA.
Also what VCA are you using? Some may react to CV input differently and so you may not get the shapes you think.
Wow, nice! What kind of rails and power board and such are you using? Looks very nice, good job! ![]()

It’s my tiptop rails and uZeus power. Just took the rack ears off. To be honest it’s a bit slap dash but its sturdy and does the job.
Thanks, will experiment some more. The VCA definitely isn’t opening and closing right.
I have a uVCA2 - the A4 Envelopes are a mix of linear and exponential right?
They are but the uvca has linear and exponential curves too. Make sure the curve knob is all the way to the right or it won’t respond correctly. Also make sure the bias knob is all the way to the left.
How come you don’t like your Pittsburgh mixer, nedavine? I’ve been thinking of getting one or two to use as attenuators between the modular and a mixer. Does it color the sound a lot?
No I haven’t noticed any colouring. I just don’t have a nice big case and it takes up 8hp. It’s useful for attenuation but most of the modules I have have atenuverters on then anyway making it a bit useless in my system. If I had a 9U instead it would be a great module but for my company system is a bit surplus to requirements. I’d like to trade it to be honest.
