Haha these days! It only came out a few years ago. I like it a lot.
Haha I guess it’s cause it’s not for sale anymore that I’ve archived it mentally as a new old geezer;)
This perhaps?
the only way it’d be better is if it yelled suggestions at me Auf Deutsch.
Fucking awesome!
really satisfied by my setup: octatrack, machinedrum and ambika.
The octa sequences the drums and synth sounds, modulates some of the md’s parameters and is used as fx processor.
All the sounds apart from a few dub chords are made with the Ambika which is set up in order to work as a 4 note polysynth (ambient stuff and chords) and two monosynths (riffs and bassline). Love the performance mode which allows to handle most of the parameters I need to perform the set without scrolling between the menus.
OT main and cue out act as deck 1 and deck 2 into channel 2/3 of the Xone 42. Using transition trick fed to channel 3 of Xone 42 to treat live set as a dj set.
Afx Station is for live fun and extra flavour.
DT is for drums.
OT is fed with stems and melodic parts.
LCXL is controlling track levels and filters in OT.
These is my set up
My unfinished modular for synth sounds noises leads bass
OT for sequencing modular stuff and sampling sounds for my modular fx
Rytm for drums
I like adding some fx like H9 and dynamics maybe oto bum
but at the moment only can work with these
OT+RYTM a brutal combo for techno stuff i think
Greetings from balearic islands.
Made me think of this ![]()
Anyway, definitely a setup I’d love to try, I love the idea of generating weird stuff on the modular, recording or transfering them in the OT to identifiy funky loops, and then give it the techno glue with drums from the Rytm. Definitely seems powerful and fun.
And for live sets you just need to load up your OT with modular stuff and bring the two black boxes and you’re set.
I sold my model:samples and monologue and came running back into the arms of Volca.
This is my little “instant gratification” techno system. I also have a polyend tracker for composing, but it’s nice to have something more immediate without so much intricate song structure planning and sound design and sample curation.
That is a fantastic techno rig. Near perfect form.
I lied. I removed my Reverb listing for Model:Samples. After it sat there for a week with no offers the feeling of regret grew in my gut until I decided maybe I don’t want to live without it…
For now, I’m mostly on my Verbos & Pulsar-23
Are we talking about a studio techno rig or live performance/jam techno rig?
Both…
Can it make your techno synapses happy? Then please share and tell / show us a little bit about it.
Any favorite features? Cool ways of doing things? We are curious AF.
Jakojako‘s setup is a total inspiration for me, too!
This is my current studio setup:
It’s kind of a hybrid setup; both in terms of ITB/OTB and in terms of live jamming/production.
For jamming outside the studio, I take my TR-8S (drums obviously) + MC-707 (serves as a mixer with fx, sequencer, sound module and sampler) + 1 or 2 synths, usually compact stuff like Typhon, System-1m, or MB33/TD3.
The MC-707 has 4 mono/ 2 stereo inputs. I usually route the audio of TR-8S into the MC-707, so then I have 2x mono or 1x stereo left for synths. I also route the assignable outputs of the Mc-707 to the TR-8S ext inputs for sidechaining/ducking. The combined sound with the main mix of the TR-8S is then routed back to the MC-707.
This is really flexible and compact, which I like a lot! I can add fx to the external synths and I don’t need a separate mixer or sequencer. The MC-707 does it all.
If I need more inputs, I don’t route the TR-8S back into the MC-707 but route both to an external A&H Zed10 mixer, which I btw also use as a really nice distortion box for kick drums. I usually sample these on my pc and load them in the TR-8S.
I sequence everything on my MC-707, except the drums, which I sequence from its internal sequencer, as it has quite a lot of nice live performance tricks like step loop, etc. I also like the mute knobs, which only work with the internal sequencer.
I had an Analog Heat for a while (that’s what brought me here), but while it sounded nice, I felt it was making my setup unnecessarily complicated and it was quite expensive for what I used it for (only “glueing” the master track). I also found the MC-707 can glue the master good enough with its built in compessor and eq’s.
808 / 303 / MACKIE MIXER / DIGITAKT / TR8S / FX PEDALS
no problem
