What's your latest purchase & what are your intentions with it? [pics ftw] (Part 3)

I ended up grabbing a used one from the last batch that was sold at essentially new price minus import fees (1300usd) but I Believe his prices will fluctuate with batches and revisions, along with conversion rate and all that jazz. So yeah you gotta reach out to him for something exact.

Thanks. Well, that isn’t exactly cheap.

Interesting little box of fun. It is what it is. A generative bassline thingy. With a reasonably gnarly filter attached. Quite nicely
made albeit with open sides in the way some
of these things seem to be. Initial impression is that it has potential to be quite fun. Will post a few more thoughts in the dedicated Basilisk thread.

Edit: more extensive and rambling thoughts here Wirehead Instruments Basilisk - Analog-Hybrid Generative Bassline Synthesizer - #17 by MattLxx

The final piece to my puzzle - Rumble :robot:

Intentions - sit it the other side of Softpop from its big sis Lyra-8 and feed them into OT for probable LP gate and fader scenes to open them up.

Then make ambient electro dub, with TR8 and TT303 and friends.
Good times.

Traded my DN2 for a second A4. Still need to cable it up. I intend to use one as a poly and the other for everything else A4, at least initially. Should be some good fun!

Intend to sample into DT2, SP404, Logic. It’s not possible to overstate how good this little thing is. Been on a roll. DT2 for $600. This for $200. Syntakt on the way for $350. Resell market is bonkers right now.

You got a site with your stuff? Tried to check profile but hidden

I have one of these laptop stands and I was about to ask you how stable it is then I saw the zip ties holding it down. That’s pretty clever!

Does it sway or wiggle at all now?

Not at all. Dude who created zip ties and velcro was Him. Anything’s possible with zips and cro.

Added 8 more voices to the setup in form of Cobalt. Model 15 out. Next, I think I will invest in a rising desk, so I can jam better while standing up.

Love the color scheme of this setup.

They are pretty satisfying!

I laid this out today, and it’s being made right now. It’s a single JAMMA (Neo Geo variant) arcade joystick for testing out all of the arcade PCBs I’ve collected. Milled 4mm thick anodized aluminum. I use 6mm thickness for the big two player ones I build, but at this width (12") it’s not going to flex.

When I build the enclosures and setups for each one, they’ll each get their own custom layout, as many won’t have as many buttons, some will need two players, etc. This one includes all of the available pins on the connector though. It can actually plug straight into a Neo Geo too if the occasion arose.

I’ll post pics once I get the stick and buttons in.

It mounts straight onto an off-the-shelf Hammond enclosure (the style that many people use for Serge style synth boats.

Here’s the layout:

I went absolutely crazy with my tax refund and GASSED myself to death :joy:

I picked up a Xone:96, Analog Four MKII, Syntakt (to accompany my AR MKII and Digitone), and Maschine+.

I’m using the Maschine for production work and would love to use it live. It’s pretty inspiring and the expansions feel like cheating.

The Xone:96 is replacing a nearly 20 year old Xone:92 that saw me through some of the best moments of my life, and the others are for bashing my head against the desk until I experience rare moments of brilliance  . Tons of overlap with my Elektron gear, but I love drum machines.

That’s a pretty interesting button layout. I recently converted my arcade cab from the standard 4 button (Neo Geo style, it is a Neo Geo cab) to 7 button so that I can put my Street Fighter board in it.

Originally I was hesitant to drill so I spent a good year waiting for the 7 button variant to show up online, but to no avail. Did it myself and it worked out great.

Now I get to play a bit of SFII Turbo everyday when I get home. 12 year old me would be mad jelly.

3 new additions…

After getting a duplicate Chase Bliss Pedal from the Mystery Box, I traded it for Onward, and some extra cash went towards Rev C. The plan is for happy accidents. Sadly, Habit was supposed to join the fun, but that was a disastrous purchase.

*No pedal board at the moment. I seriously ordered a charcuterie board that will become my new pedal board. New cables there to connect the outs from CXM to 1010BlueBox.

Then, there’s the Make Noise Multimod. I really love this thing. I’ve made lots of noise and made a mess of things using pitch as the input, but I think after those little bumps, I have a better feel for it. It is just an insane tool and I feel better having this after Data Bender left my case. I made a video in the modular thread, linked below. I didn’t want to spam the place with a YT video, even though synthfluencer is definitely not in my future.

Nice!!

The reason I use a perfect diamond layout for the first four buttons is that for games that need two sticks (Robotron etc.) they can be used as the second directional set. When I do most of my setups, I start with a diamond like that, then place two more slightly offset to the right and up from those to kind of make a Street Fighter-esque curve. That way those four can be used for directions when needed, but you can still play on what feels like a 2x row of three SF2 style setup as well.

For this smaller stick specifically, I wanted the 5 and 6 (E and F) buttons kind of out of the way, because none of the arcade PCBs that I’ve collected use more than four. I love Street Fighter games, but I play those on the MiSTer and Steam for the most part using a different arcade controller setup. Nice work on the controller/cab!

Here’s the other stick setup I use with the MiSTer. I didn’t offset the 5 and 6 buttons on this one, but probably should have. They’re a bit more comfortable when slightly offset into a curve from the first four.
