part of the beauty of the design is that the top three pads sort of wrap around the top/side, and those are very easy to hit while incorporated into a drum kit. you wouldn’t get that if you put the controls up top and those three pads on the bottom. especially since most drummers angle it downwards (and you couldn’t access such a pad then). angling it also makes it easier to miss hitting the screen/controls.

I’ve realised, looking at your pic of it mounted on a stand, that the controls are recessed. That hadn’t come across in the top-down photos I’d seen before.

I just purchased an ableton move so I can make music when I should be doing other things. We’ll see how it plays out.

Just received the Sony MDR-M1 closed back in the mail. Definitely a noticeable improvement from my MDR-7509. The cushion is better and the bass driver seems much better . The low end and mids feel improved.

Got an old and rusty Pianet T and just finished a full blown restoration. It took me a couple weeks but was definitely worth the effort.
Heck, I’ve moulded my own custom key bushings just to make the keybed action and feel spot on!
Always wanted one, and now my intention is to have fun playing it through pedals and A4mk2.

Got a chase bliss clean and a smaller pedal board that perfectly fits everything down to the last millimeter. It’s so satisfying. It couldn’t be any better than this. Nirvana achieved. I can die in peace now.
