I’ve always been an Oberheim guy in my heart. I do like Juno, Jupiter & Moog, but that sound, it’s almost like a string instrument in character makes my skin tingle.
And it’s finally affordable!

Yes i do. IOS v26.1
Got a mint Take 5 on the way at a price where I won’t lose much money if I resell in order to explore its new arp modes and do prophet things with nicely defined low end presence. If it isn’t noticeably better than my other synths in sound I’ll sell it on but people keep insisting its raw sound is really that good so I’ll see for myself.
I succumbed to a bit of BF madness and picked up a Presonus Studiolive 16R Series III. Looks like a hell of a lot of mixer/interface power for $750 or so with tax.
I thought about the 24R and 32R which are also on sale at some retailers right now, but that much I/O would get me in trouble ![]()
That’s also my latest purchase and hopefully the last one for a long time. I‘ve shared some thoughts on the Take 5 thread, but it might be the best sounding and most fun synth I ever played. It almost feels like cheating because so far, everything I do with it sounds amazing. Enjoy it!
Ah, the innocent first step in your “AVB Network” journey… ![]()
Those sound amazing.
I haven’t really come across very many reports of people disliking anything but the voice count so I’m assuming it’s great. It has a lot of the things I really like about the Artemis like continuously variable waveshapes but you can modulate the two oscillators shapes separately which is rad and the new arp mode that squeezes all your notes into the same timing regardless of how many there are seems really really cool. I already notice the voice stealing on Artemis so I’m not sure how I’ll feel about one less but I make do when I’m using my 8 voice 3rd wave in binaural mode and only have 4 to work with so I’m sure it’ll be ok. The rig Tetris part is the harder part, since my apartment is kinda fully loaded.
Buy two…
With latest firmware you get 10 voices.
Also have a Take 5 arriving this week.
Also have a second Perkons arriving this week. Have the blue one but wanted the black one to go along with Perfourmer with Erica knobs. Can’t wait to see that black duo side by side.
I have 8 voice synths and a multi/poly if I need really high polyphony for some reason. I don’t need two of the same thing.
awesome! Definitely a new favorite of mine. I have most of the entire Erica Synths collection at this point: DB01, LXR02, Hexdrums, Perkons, and tons of Erica Synths eurorack modules/sequencers. Probably one of my favorite synth company today next to Elektron. I bought it on sale from Latvia and they shipped it super quick too. Even with the $235.70 tariff/tax fee, with the discount, I still saved close to $600 on the sale. Now I want a Steampipe lol and Bullfrog XL.
I really wanted the limited edition Perkons with the fancy wood but the sale convinced me to save money on regular black one. Now it matches Hexdrums.
Will most likely do the same. Started to test demo yesterday. Really good.
After getting my Heat Mk2, which is excellent, I can share that my intentions with it are to do this exact thing to lots of audio (dry SH-4D beat to start then Heat comes in).
I was afraid if it will work on my not so up to date CPU. It seems OK (at least one instance playing), but the thing that confuses me is, when I push the “Multicore” button, which I suppose should improve the performance, the sound is instantly scratchy, droping out. Like doing the exact opposite… Trying it in Bitwig - not sure if it is somehow connected with the way Bitwig is working with cores, threads…
iirc thats since the silicon chips. it worked great in the beginning but since a couple of years its buggy on my m1 system
Sorry, I forgot to mention I am on PC.
ah ok. than its another reason. its a known problem for shure
