It looks like a deep synth. The picture give it depth.

haha. well… some of this will likely be sold. I’ve actually been working hard at simplifying the setup this year.

finally bought a DT about a month ago or more. my first real instrument not counting MIDI keyboards.

finally got some more time to play with it.

and I feel like I’m going to get stuck. I LOVE playing with sounds and manipulating them. have no focus for tutorials but I’m tring to be patient with myself.

I fear I’m going to get stuck making just loops like with using only Ableton.

I would say that for most people, buying an instrument isn’t going to solve this issue.
Forcing yourself to finish tracks, no matter how bad they are, is the most practical way to tackle this.

Milwaukee Packouts for cables and bits. Less sprawl than totes for when I’m searching for something.

Been contemplating it for a bit since they’re not cheap, but I’m tired of my floor being a trip hazrad when I’m swapping out gear.

I’ve been using an IKEA metal drawer thing on wheels for a while but this looks like a better solution.

I just really like the modular aspect of the whole series.

Is that really all just from the digitone?

Yes it is, I just recorded the complete stereo output via the Digitone/Overbridge plugin. I subsequently listened to the recording with headphones and it sounds like crap because it’s drowned in delay and reverb so there’s a lesson there - turn down the FX!!

Still, it proves the point that you can get something going with the one box.

Needed a power amp to put some juice into a pair of ATC SCM20 after an amp blew in one of my APS Aeons. Sounding pretty darn good at the mo.

Yes, I recognize I might have a problem since i already have two A4 MK2s but I’m a sucker for the Analog Four sound. I had a Norand Mono MK2 collecting dust, listed on Reverb / FB Marketplace and when someone offered to do a trade for an Analog Keys, I agreed without much thinking. I like the Norand Mono MK2, but i found myself gravitating towards Elekteons and also Moog, specifically the Subsequent 37 & Minitaur, which both have the great sound and accompanying Editors, which lend themselves to be friendly to a hybrid (hardware & software) workflow. Much more so than Norand. I will miss the Norand Mono character for sure, but I do feel like for me at least, the trade made sense. So off goes Norand Mono MK2 and the mint condition, boxed, still with protective plastic on screen, with a matching Decksaver Analog Keys came home. I tried it out, and it sounds amazing. Playing some of the same patterns, AK feels like it’s got a bit exaggerated bottom end as compared to A4 MK2. But I like it!

I’m not sure of my intentions yet, but this may be something I use in different spot of the house to sketch some ideas, away from my full setup. If not, I may pack it up and store like a time capsule to take back out in 10-20 years.

Last year I bought the Moog 1125 Sample & Hold shown on the right. It’s a neat unit, but it has three drawbacks. First, it it doesn’t have any sort of power supply, and requires a Minimoog, Sonic Six, or some other properly-equipped synth to provide power. That means it always has to be near enough to the Minimoog for the (short) breakout cables to reach it.

Secondly, the breakout CV and gate cables are quite short - long enough to reach the Mini, but requiring some sort of extension adapters to reach across my modular system.

Finally, it has no means to sync the sample & hold to external clocks, which limits its uses.

So I took it to my tech in Wichita to come up with solutions. To say he went above and beyond would be a gross understatement. Not only did he design a circuit to allow sync, but he built the beautiful breakout box on the left for the power supply and CV/gate connections.
