What's your latest purchase & what are your intentions with it? [pics ftw] (Part 2)

I only bought the TR8s because I’m still waiting for the RD-8MKII and RD-9 pre order. I’ll end up keeping all 3 when they eventually arrive (The Behringer stuff that is, been waiting since June just for the RD-9) but at least I have a drum machine to play with over Christmas. :+1:

It’s really cool. Demo is fully functional, you just can’t save and there’s a watermark on the output video.

These units are so good and so flexible. I have two JV1080’s (both loaded with sound cards) that I’ve used the hell out of.

Is it me, or are mc303 making a comeback for some weird reason?
(That is what’s above the elektron, yes?)

Managed to grab an as new Alesis Micron (red) just now from eBay for £175 I used to own one years and years ago and after watching a ton of YouTube videos today I figured it’d make a great drone synth and maybe make some multi sample stuff from my MPCX with it.
Due to be delivered this coming Thursday.

The Alesis stuff is so great. I keep staving off just going all in on an andromeda. Don’t know how much longer I’m gonna last.

Yeah I was initially searching for the Alesis ION however I came across the Micron which I first bought on release but sold it in 2008 or so. I remembered how good it sounded back then and with me having the MPCX I figured to sample the hell out of it whilst also using it for live stuff. It’s a multi part synth too so I can map all sorts with this an just use it as a sound module. I will still get the ION again at some point but for now I’m sure I’ll get some fab sounds out of the Micron.

It is a MC-303. I bought it new when it first came out. The midi implementation really sucks, but it’s got great sounds for all the old CompuRhythm drum machines in there. That’s what I used it for.

Ooh, if there’s one thing I regret ever selling it’s my collection of four Electrix rack units. I loved Repeater and Mo-Fx especially.

I played my cards wisely and instead of buying either of the monosynths I was contemplating, I shortened my credit card debt and then I stumbled into an expanded Korg M3 locally with the memory and firewire-expansions installed (but no keyboard) for 350€. Really looking forward to getting it delivered to my bookshop tomorrow at noonish.

I don’t know what it is with me and these vintage flagship romplers. This will be an excellent addition to my V-Synth and my XV-5080.

I actually set foot in a Guitar Center today to pick up this 1 Spot combo pack.
Intentions are to confirm or deny that the RPW-7 is a noisy bastard.
Even if it’s not, I can use the 1 spot at the table full-time & discontinue the practice of moving the boss back and forth from the guitar wall to the table.

time to start wiring.

Lumen’s very cool. When I had an OP-Z, inspired by a video in some thread here, I looked into it because the OP-Z’s video stuff is just a toy. I’ve since moved on to TouchDesigner, which is much more powerful and elaborate, but has a monster learning curve, which I don’t care because the people I work with handle the graphics. TouchDesigner is free, though. Checking out Lumen’s latest demo, I see it’s now looking more powerful than I recall, so I might spring for it to get pleasing video results within my abilities and time.

ADDED: Here’s that OP-Z video:

What a beauty. I think Panda Bear used one of these on his album Tom Boy. He would process his guitar through it, which would trigger a bunch of samples (a la Disco Inferno).

I traded my Polivoks for an 0-Coast. Don’t know what I’ll do with it yet.

Just received my two Boundary (I’ll call them “the boundaries” I guess hahaha) from Schlappi Engineering !
Very cool module, well laid out, tons of patch programmability, great at both audio rate and sub audio thing. First demo video already in the box, should be online by friday
