I didn’t realize what the Perc was. That is REALLY cool! Four of them eh? That’s going to be ridiculous (in the best possible way)! Would love to hear something when you get going.
I didn’t know about the Polyend Perc either but @J3RK’s response got me to look it up.
And all I can say is “Wow! This gonna be cool!” – 4 robot drummers going at it at once (on real drums I assume?).
And does '“4” mean? 4 arms or 4 sets of 6 arms?! I assume the former, but I’m kinda hoping four the latter, i.e. 24 independent robot arms all doing their own rhythmic thing simultaneously would be awesome to watch. So when’s the grand opening?
I’m trying to grok what this is physically going to look like based on what’s on Polyend’s page:
I for one welcome our new robotic drumming overlords!

The problem is that it’s their first product, and they no longer make it. I thought it was new too at first. I think I even got an email about it recently which kind of all came together to make me think it was a new thing. I got all excited about the possibilities, then they were dashed when I found out that it was something that I passed by because I didn’t know about it.
Just four. The individual units. I bought right before they were discontinued. They are awesome. And yeah, actual drums and lots of things that aren’t drums. I sequence them with both MIDI and CV - depends on the project.
So like a synth panic room. I like the sound of that. I’d end up locking myself in indefinitely.
It’s June and time to fail my NGNY as I’ve done basically every time. This year it’s a bit questionable as I bought this for my shop. I like to have a basic setup of synths/stage piano, guitar amps etc. in my shop for upcoming live events, but I’m sure I’ll borrow it every now and then and take it home to play.
I couldn’t resist this as the dude was selling it for 650€ with a case and the GTs usually go for 1400-2500€ if you can ever even catch one. I have the XT at home and I’m over the moon to have the GT too. Personally I haven’t even seen the synth yet as a friend of mine picked it up from Helsinki and dropped it to my shop. I’m on a small holiday on my way to Stockholm and a Dinosaur Jr. gig there. But when I get back home on tuesday, I’ll get to fondle this beauty. Lucky me.
never ever get addicted to crack!
Hah! I hardly even drink beer anymore. But tomorrow, I might have a few listening to J. Mascis & his crew. I even ordered heavy duty earplugs just for this gig. I’ve heard they’re kinda loud.
Sadly, it may be the case.
I was talking about the guy who sold the synth to you, enjoy your beer! unless it’s crack beer!

Aaaaaa! Now I get it!
No he was a guy who worked at the university and he had found this synth in his new study’s closet and it was supposed to go to a landfill. He took it home and put it for sale. At first it was 1000€ until the price gradually fell a hundred euros at a time every week. I lost my cool at 650€ because it was basically a steal.
I think the reason nobody bought it earlier was the fact that he openly told that he had found it for free and was asking a thousand euros for it. People don’t like things like that. He should’ve made up a story that he was the second owner etc. The second reason no one got in touch was probably that the ad was in english. Finnish people have an aversion to speaking/writing foreign languages.
The money went to funding his upcoming wedding so it was a win/win kinda situation.
Finally got the NTS-2 and Roland S-1. Intention: pairing it with my Volca Drums to have a minimalistic portable setup.
Nice cat! I’m sure you’re going to enjoy spending some time with him!
I bought a used patch panel a few weeks back and finally set it up today. Ended up buying a bunch of cables from the same guy (he’s moving out and selling his entire studio).
Had to rewire everything, but now it’s pretty clean and I can finally use the compressor for side-channel w/o having to rewire everything. Plus I hooked up all the stereo instruments, before I only had them in mono to reduce the rewiring effort.
The desk is now cleaner, too!
Think I saw that go by on Muusikoiden a couple of times myself as well, where I think the average English listing is still 50/50 between a scam or not. Great pick for 650€ for sure, love all forms of the V-synth!
Clearly I should be keeping an eye on stuff there too. Thanks!
Just ordered a Digitakt II and should arrive tomorrow.
