oops, just bought a Korg M3M.
Pretty impulsive buy… but it seemed like a bargain.
Going to discard my Triton rack and get all my strings/horns etc needs catered for.
I have been using my old DJ headphones on my DAWless setup for far, far too long. So took the plunge and bought these beautiful b-stock Beyerdynamic headphones that are actually still made in Germany (one of the main reasons I chose them).
I have the DT900’s. I really like them as they sound great. One issue to watch out for and a problem with mine is the headband covering pulling apart. And this was less than a year of light use and never leaving my desk. It apparently was a known issue and not covered under warranty.
Just bought the 7artisans 24 mm F1.4 and wow…a totally different world! My Canon 15-45 mm lens seems to be a pretty bad copy, I mean, can’t tell for sure, but it seems like.
It’s only F3.5 and really struggled in low light and since I take a lot of photos in low light and also film in low light, I really needed a faster lens.
Lol, if I’m soo exited about this budget 7artisans lens, I can’t even imagine how an expensive lens is like. ![]()
Two main ones
Thanks for the tip.
Purchase: A single 22uf, 16v tantalum capacitor.
Intentions: A year or two ago, I purchased the EPS16+ seen below as-is for a hundred bucks. It loaded its OS from the floppy drive and it seemed to properly load sounds, too. However, no sound could be coaxed from any of its outputs. Sample input was bad, too. Pitch and mod wheels, and patch select buttons, all dead.
This week, I finally took a look inside, did some research, dug through the schematics and found the culprit: a single dead capacitor was shorting the -15v power to ground. I replaced the capacitor today and wouldn’t you know it? It’s up and running. Tomorrow I’ll stress test it and if it passes muster, it will join my other Ensoniqs (EPS classic, ESQ-1, SD-1, and Mirage) for some 80s style industrial music.
Thanks for posting this. I’ve been looking for a pair of headphones and these fit everything I was looking for.
After using them for a session and a bit. I have to say they are absolutely brilliant. They are one of those purchases when I think to myself “why didn’t I buy them years ago!”.
Fantastic! I haven’t had new headphones in years and the material on the non-replaceable cups for my current ones is coming off and leaving me with black flakes all over when I use them. It’s driving me nuts. Haha. So psyched for the new cans.
I got one recently as well from Japan along with a JV-2080. It’s still in the shipping bubblewrap as I need to send it off to be converted from 100V to 220. I’m getting SECTOR101 cards for both of these and then they will do main synth/pler duties as a pair.
This is my little ‘tower of power’ with all my current stuff on it while I am renovating my studio. MPC1000 and KP3 on top, MD gets unpacked onto the desk properly for use.
Lovely stuff! Good luck with the voltage conversion. Definitely recommend trying the patch base editors for these units if you have an iPad and way to get midi in and out. Enjoy your tower of power when it’s all setup!
Thanks! It’s mostly because step-up transformers are a bit of a pain and if I can get this converted to the right voltage (re-wrap or new unit) with an IEC plug that would just be most preferable.
I have an android tablet that I’ve been using some TouchOSC and other bits on but an iPad would probably be a bit of an upgrade.
Yeah i think the main reason I’d want to use the patch base controller is because it’s been made… I don’t relish the thought of mapping all the parameters of a TG77 myself in TouchOSC or Midi Commander - Android platform doesn’t have nearly as many good apps for this. I suppose there might be some community templates for TouchOSC available but I’ve not looked. Strongly recommend an iPad anyway for a million different applications in this field!
nice! I’ve actually been eyeing the 900’s as I’d like to try open-back headphones. just to be less fatiguing over longer periods. I’ve been using Sony 7506’s for like 25 years and I think it’s time to try something else. I’ve read a lot of great things about the Pro X series, so that may be the ticket.
My hapiness died down a bit as I’m still getting a blank screen after the replacement.
Somethings not working and I can’t figure out what.

at least on elektron gear when you install a new screen you have to adjust the contrast. they tend to have a blank screen at first. is there a contrast adjustment pot on the mpc?
maybe not it but worth checking.
I think I mentioned it in another thread, but try opening it up and reseating all the connections, like ribbon cables and such. It’s basically an old PC in there.
The lights shouldn’t all be on like that, except maybe very quickly flashing during boot up.
Yeah I’ve tried that. Removed the floppy drive etc. but no luck yet.
There’s nothing left to remove unfortunately so I’m guessing a capacitator is fried or smth.
Yeah! I tried but that doesn’t work. thanks tho!
