I saw someone posting Mutable Elements for sale with a really fair price, and even though I hadn’t planned on getting a new skiff, I just had to grab this. It arrived today, but it will take at least some weeks before I get to play with it properly, but I’m pretty sure I will be using this a lot in future! All the sound recordings that I’ve heard are just beautiful. Good stuff! I’m confident it will pair well with both Beads and Soma Lyra-FX!
Today I was having a haircut and I told my barber that I’m thinking about getting a Mercury X reverb. He told me his scissors cost more than the pedal, and that they have made him enjoy his work much more, so I decided to finally get this box of spatial magic. I got the LVX a year ago and have been using it in my live set. Now it will be paired with its reverberating sibling! It was expensive, but this week I sold two pedals so I didn’t really lose money in exchange. Can’t wait to dive in!
I’ve been having my haircuts at the same barber for the last 8 or 9 years! The first time I was there, he was playing his brand new custom made guitar while waiting, so I knew instantly we would get along just great! He’s a cool dude in his fifties, an old school punk rocker and a classic barber who’s proud of his job.
won this Nektar LX Mini at a synth meetup last september and haven’t used it much but now that i’m back in the hybrid thing think i’ll plug it back into the matrix and do some holiday jamming.
Iridium is great! The Room knob is absolutely brilliant addition to a pedal like this. Makes everything sound more alive instantly.
Blackhole is cool too. Eventide has been having a spring/summer sale and I like both their pedal and algorithm design, so I had a quick scan through their pedals recently, but for me Mercury X is such a dream reverb pedal that I didn’t have to think twice.
It’s only yesterday I got the Mutable Elements and Mercury X, but today the mail brought another module…
I had a Lyra-8 and used it extensively on my album a couple of years ago, but got eventually bored with it and swapped it for a Digitone. But I did miss its fantastic delay and distortion section, so when I learned that the Lyra8-FX is available as a Eurorack module I decided to take out the similarly sized Maths from my small 60HP case and replace it with self modulating double delay chaos.
(Someone should really recreate Lyra8-FX as a stereo plugin, because I’d love to use this directly in my DAW!)
My first intension with Lyra8-FX is to pair it together with my DFAMs and Subharmonicon and immerse in its organismic magic!
i was gassing until you said plugin and remembered the Lira8. i didn’t mess with it much when it came out four years ago bc of the glaring difference in tactile feedback and haven’t really heard much on it since from anyone of note.
The Iridium and Blackhole are great pedals. I picked up the Blackhole because of the sale and bought directly from Eventide because every time I’ve looked for one in UK shops they have been out of stock. I’ve used the plugin for years and wanted it in the physical form I also have the Meris Mercury 7 and that is good as well. The MercuryX and LVX from Meris are on my want list but it might be a while before I can justify the price.
Same re UK shops, No stock or inflated prices. Was considering an order with Thomann but held off then noticed Eventides sale.
So If you order direct from Eventide is it shipped from within the UK via distributer or U.S then? The sale prices are very tempting but less so if there is VAT and Duty to pay on top.
Looks like it’s a postcode thing. I put our old Yorkshire postcode into their checkout and got £35 for the same service. When I change this to our current Aberdeenshire address it jumps to £89. Will order from Thomann and post pics when it arrives so as not to totally derail this thread.
I don’t take mine travelling or into crowds any more (I make ad-hoc decisions as to when to mask) but I keep it in the living room to remind me to crack the windows once in a while.
What I mostly learned from having it in the classroom was that my building’s HVAC sucks. I put in a complaint, they installed a monitoring device… and I never heard back from them. It was useful on trains, buses, and planes, though.
