I owned Mininova years ago. Animate buttons are nice feature. I just wanted to say that there are many more interesting for me features in the update apart from improved animate targets.
I was hoping for 3.0 or something like that on the recent Superbooth as it looks like they are still working on firmware, at least on bug fixes, but alas. Summit is great as it is, but it’s always curious what developers can squeeze from a device.
The Animate buttons now have their own dedicated envelopes (not just improved targets), which makes them MUCH more interesting and useful than they have been in the past, as now you can have the effect smoothly fade in as you press the button, and smoothly fade out as you release the button. It has really changed how I use them when designing patches, as previously the effect was very abrupt.
Bitbox has been a treat having a sampler within eurorack. gone are all synthesis devices which makes things a ton simpler. not having my 130,000 best samples available at all times was a drag but no more… and stems… and timestretch. MIDI still comes in via LXR-02 along with CV from Clep Diaz. what’s next? for hardware… nothing. so it’s re-integration with the daw, which i’d been using with 3x samplers on top of drums but now i can focus on pure sound design. not that i couldn’t before but locking down the other bits def helps getting in that zone. does that equate to finished tracks tho… let’s not get crazy 
It has finally arrived…
My intentions: turn it on, experience mild UI frustration (haven’t had an Elektron box in several months), take deep breaths, get comfortable, then make a bunch of mediocre beatz that some AI music generator could do far better, far more quickly, for far cheaper 
I’ve been banging on for ages about getting something I can use away from my desk/computer and I although I was weirdly nervous about it I got this yesterday. I have previous good experiences with Novation gear.
First impressions: -
For £257 this thing seems like very good value indeed. I was making sample-based music 25 years ago with tracker software that had much less power than this.
I’m already (after about 12 hours with this thing) tempted to buy a small, cheap synth (preferably that runs with battery pack or AA etc) and see what happens. I feel like a teeny desktop DAW-less setup feels nearer than ever.
Ha! Did the same, for the same reasons, and I LOVE it!
I purchased a lot of gear and know that honeymoon period which I’m going through right now too well.
So, I’m going to wait for a couple of months to evaluate if this approach works for me.
But right now I’m overexcited on the Summit. What a beast!
I would add “spend hours creating samples that I will never use” to that list for me!
Don’t let this AI nonsense take the fun out of your own work. Chess apps are also light years better at chess than humans, but humans still love to play strategic games
For me it started with wanting a keyboard with 61 keys, and yes, it’s so fun playing the DT II, Nord Drum, with a large keybed, oh, and the OB6 
Then, I’m so pleasantly surprised by the Summit as a synth, very versatile and super easy as it has so many hands on knobs and performance things…
*spend hours Transferring stereo samples that I will use 1 time, or never.
*spend hours using the same shortlist of <100 samples (50% mono one shots of kicks) I use everyday
With a Peak on the desk would you consider swapping it for a OB6 (or a Teo5)?
I don’t understand in which direction the swap would happen? Are you asking, if I had a Peak, would I get a OB6 or Teo5 as a keyboard synth?
More like if you can choose just one between Peak or OB6/Teo5 (just from sound/fun of using it perspective, keybed presence not relevant)

Ah! Tough call. The Peak would be the most versatile. I love something about the OB6, which is already quite versatile but nowhere near the Peak in terms of variety of OSC tones and modulations…
I wouldn’t choose a Teo5 personally, but that’s just a very personal taste (e.g. not having mixer knobs on the surface, is a no go for me).
Now, I don’t own a Peak, but a Summit, and the peak has less on the surface (for example FM knobs aren’t there, plus others). OB6 is very hands on.
Depends what you value most. OB6 sounds glorious in many situations, for different type of sounds, is very hands on… Peak/Summit sound capabilities are even more, I can’t comment more, it’s very new.
All very personal opinions
The Teo wasn’t out then, but I was very happy to have chosen the OB6 — it’s just such a living sound. I also picked up a Yorick LFE, which adds a few more poly LFOs/envelopes via midi, for the best of both worlds.
I don’t know why I’ve slept on this for so long.
Maybe because there are no proper videos showing what this is capable of other than a loud distorted feedback mess (which can be great sometimes)…
But you can actually find lots of sweetspots for interesting and subtle effects, it’s simply amazing!
Intentions: using it as a send effect on my Tascam 488 and occasionally as a drone device.
I hope you make some more subtle demos for us!
