Yeah if out of warranty there is egg on OP’s face.
Can’t help but feel his pain regarding cost though.

I have wanted to upgrade my MD UW mk2 & MM mk2 to +Drive since release date, but at $499aud per machine ($998 total) I can simply go and buy a 2nd hand +Drive MD or MM. Always felt it was overpriced but here in oz its simply uneconomical. I live in Melb where Audio Chocolate is located & they wouldnt discount to avoid shipping costs (inc in the quote price). If an Elektron discount sale ever applies to this product I will go ahead with.

Maybe he should remove + drive, sell his unit & buy another one 2nd hand, difference would be way less than $400
