Warning: elektron will not fix your machines

[quote=“” Prints""]
After doing a search of your old posts, I’d definitely block you if we had the option to in this forum.

I think Elektronot is just a hater. I’m not sure that s/he even owns any Elektron gear, but s/he’s always one of the first to jump on the hatewagon.

I have three pieces. Hey, if you want to reply to next several dozen OT II threads, be my guest.

Should have clarified; I was speaking to the OP.

Do you like any of them? It’s really hard to tell from your posts.

Yes. I’m very impressed so far. I was disappointed with the Rytm at first, and my first machine was bad which soured me. Anyway, after finally getting a working box it just didn’t meet my expectations, and I ditched it in August. Then came back for black weeks with less expectations, less money, ended up buying a Keys trinity. Really happy with my new approach and hoping for the best from Gothenburg.

P.S. Im not going to post in this thread anymore, so I’ll catch you in the next one.

This. Exactly this.

OK Update:

I shipped to LA, they got back to me after a week(!!!) asking me $400(!!!) for a new hard drive.
I asked not to install a way way over priced HD, only to ship back to me.

I also instructed that only FedEx will deliver properly in my area so NOT TO USE UPS OR POSTAL SERVICE.

After a WEEK(!!!) from when i payed, and when they were not suppose to repair or install anything they finally shipped(today) using… UPS!!!

So I AM NOT GOING TO RECEIVE IT + I have to leave town in 4 days!!!

I also asked to include my Phone number on the shipping label which they did not. as I said in the beginning of my post - these are total amateurs! There was a reason for all my ranting as you can tell. They basically fucked me over. Just so you know.

You’re completely unprofessional. Nobody has any sympathy for you.

Nobody is looking for your sympathy, i couldnt care less. i am warning about the service.

Hi, I am sorry i just joined the forum 2 days ago. Please don’t get angry at me, dumbeat…

I read this thread entirely…

So what was wrong with the unit in the end? All it needs is a new hard drive?

(I didn’t even know there was a hard drive)

Yes. It was a HD failure. They tried to sell me a $400 HD as if it was 1992 + all the hell described above…

Wait, wot? There’s a hard drive in the MD? Do you mean the +Drive? Was it under warranty? You should have had that fixed without paying $400 if it was…

Elektron lets you know how much labor will be on working on you gear it’s 90 bucks for a half hour worth of work and parts. That is upfront before you send it in. You come off as someone how reads what they want to read. You are not unique or special. Nobody works for free.

Shouldn’t the OP change the name of this thread to: WARNING: ELEKTRON WILL NOT FIX YOUR MACHINES FOR FREE AFTER THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED, WHICH IS TOTALLY REASONABLE?

This thread is ridiculous.

I went back through the posts in this thread, and it was unclear if the OP has a MK1 with a +Drive or not.

If it was a MKII purchased within their generous 3 year warranty, then yeah, it’s a reason to be annoyed. But if you’re outside of those terms, they are going to charge and are within their rights to do so.

I’ve worked plenty of retail, and I dare you to come at me with your way out of service agreement machine, bro. I’ll laugh in your face. In almost any other case a company wouldn’t even humor you after 90 days to 1 year. If you’re out of their terms, you can either choose to pay them, find someone locally, or sell it as is.

EDIT: FWIW, I just got laid off. I’ve been holding back on sending my MDUW in to repair the knobs, as they got really wobbly about a year after purchase, but I’ve seen that Elektron have been behind for a while and have held off. I’ll be submitting a ticket shortly and hoping they can attend to me before my time is up, but I’m not going to blame them. If anything, they seem like the kind of company that would work with me if the repair time exceeded the terms of purchase.

FYI - if you are in the EU - I just had my OT for repairs, some wobbly knobs, cross-fader and a scratchy headphone output.
With shipping back and forth the repairs took about 3 weeks.

You all read what you wanna read. I did not expect anything for free.

I did expect:

A. Not to be under an attempted ripoff ($400 for a HD? Is this 1992?)

B. More importantly, to have it shipped back in a timely manner and follow my shipping instruction or at least warn me if they cant.

whatever, im out of here

blimey, you’re so blinded with self-righteous rage that you’ve failed to realise it’s not a hard drive, good luck sorting this out cheaper yourself down at radio-shack !

So anyone know what the +Drive actually is? It’s not a regular hard drive of that I am sure because you would hear that thing spin and click. For sure it has to be something solid state, but my guess is it’s flash memory. And those vary in prices a lot, depending in quality and reliability of components, and read and write speed. Honestly I doubt the price would be so cheap as to validate and risk installing it yourself. I’d rather pay a professional to do it. Especially when they put warranty on labor. Just my 2 cents.

This guys a dinosaur. Got back to the tar pit ya crusty.
