I guess that’s quite subjective, I love them. I wouldn’t expect that Erica drum machine to be faster, after all AR has dedicated machines for certain sounds as well as presets.
Call me crazy, but did they stick something on top of a Social Entropy Engine???
Is the price still undisclosed? I’m not seeing it listed.
Not clear yet, only that it probably will be 4 digits.
Way more infos in this video.
It’s the Vermona way to have Presets/Patches. Very interesting.
Probably available around Christmas. No pricing yet.
With these extra infos, I lean more towards this than the Hexdrums. I always wanted a DRM1 but now, with this brilliant idea and the Analog Vermona sound, I think I will buy it. The Sequencer seems fully featured.
One interesting feature is while playing live you can cue the analog path to headphones while playing the sequence to the audience and then just sample to a track and change the sound instantly. Sounds promising.
Here is the most informative video, it’s in German but maybe there are English automatic subtitles https://youtu.be/D2RylCEqTK0?si=DRfJtaI1g31gac7Z
Edit: it’s also possible to load your own samples on the SD card if necessary
Looks and sounds great. I think the idea behind it is so simple, that it´s almost crazy if you think that nobody did it before. Very excited about it. Would be cool to know if it is possible to integrate external effects? Like to make use of the individual outs - and maybe there is also an audio in?
It does have inputs, right? What those might be for? Sampling? Efx processing?
Ah yes, I just read it somewhere, it does have inputs. Wow … it really seems like very very nice concept. For me the highlight of SB25
I’ve compared it to Rytm above to point out how much more fully featured is. I’ve just thought about the flipside: I’d freak out if Elektron added a track to the Digitakt that can be any of the AR/ST machines (or FM drum, since they’d have to change the hardware to give us an analog track). That would be so much more comfortable than hooking up another box and MIDI cables to make samples.
I would have liked to hear the FXs and know if they are Send or Insert FX. Is there Master FXs too?
Any chance you can resample looping track(s) or the entire playback into a new track and do UW style programming? Been dying for someone tk bring this back in a simple and effective way. Was hoping the hexdrum would feature this since you can’t store kits or automate…
Seems pretty far outside its scope based on the demos, but I guess you never know. I’m curious to see more for sure although if my thoughts are correct in thinking it’s main feature is tight integration of one shot sampling and short one shot playback, I’m not sure if I think the trade offs when compared to a purely synth based drum machine or a pure sampler will be worth it.
I’m just impressed that I can still be impressed by new gear! That’s one of my favorite things about SB, every year I’m always delighted to see innovative ideas that haven’t been done (or done as well) before, to wit Instruo Seashell or Clank or Phase8. Vermona has cooked up something cool here and, while I can’t swing picking one up in the long term, I’m excited to see what people do with it.
I would be very impressed by seashell were it not so expensive
Cool machine!
Dunno about the name, Vermona… top of the muffin TO YOU!
I’ve got it, hear me out: drumCATCHER.
(Ding, to my English-speaking sensibilities, has a negative connotation. A ding is a dent in your car, to get dinged is to be charged an annoying fee.)
Which doesn’t resample.
One workflow improvement suggestion : they really need to add a way to hear the current sequence with the edited analog voice before resampling, so you stay in the flow.
