Vermona drumDING

A lot of percussion coming out of Superbooth this year!
First mentioned here by @tubefund Erica Synths Hexdrums - #66 by tubefund but this clearly needs its own topic!

Looks great and knowing Vermona, sounds baller.

Not their typical design but I like it very much. Keycap buttons seem to have the cut. Yellow screen and Elektron oriented.

I really like the idea behind this. One synth engine and then quick sampling and sequencing. I’m thinking of doing a similar thing with the Perkons Voice but it’s always messier with eurorack IMO.

That’s a really interesting idea.

agreed! really cool idea!

I’d imagine there will be no way to save patches from the analog engine. and likely no CC control. in typical Vermona fashion. but in a way that makes it kind of more fun! play, sample, move on.

Usually I love the Vermona design language, and I am a happy owner of their flagships (DRM MkIV, P4mer, Vermona '14) but this just doesn’t do it for me in terms of looks and layout. :grimacing:

Will withhold further judgement until I hear some demos but kinda “blah” from what I can gather from this short article… Hexdrums looks much more enticing.

This means, you can dial in a drum sound, sample it and then have to stick with it? This would not make sense, would it?

You make a drum sound, sample it, make 10 more variations of it, sample those. Make new sound, sample it, make variations, sample those, etc. until you have your kit. Presumably you can then further manipulate the samples with the playback engine. This is actually what I thought the A4 was going to be before we knew specs way back when

Cant find any videos on this one yet? Holding back for tomorrow?

Its a prototype, probably finished in the end of the year.

Giving the quality Vermona is known for it will be great. But iam biased, got a softspot for them.

At first glance, it’s a really interesting concept. Until you realize that a Rytm can do all of this if you’d like to work that way. Or you could just use the analog voices on all twelve tracks. Or you could mix them with samples. Or all at the same time.

I know not everything has to do everything all the time, but it puts it a bit into perspective imo. Especially if you can get AR MK1 for around 650€.
