Tonverk OS Upgrades & Updates

I delete the tracks in the pattern I want them off. It works pretty well and makes the approach quite interesting as it forces me to use several patterns so I am more enclined to experiment with fx routing for instance to change the mood and add variations

Massive update, thanks Elektron! It’s getting time to check this out in my local store

F%ck me, I’m buying this synth Polyphonic multisampler and audio processor!

The amount of fixes alone was that last little push I needed, but when I saw that p-lockable wonder of granular machine I was in awe.

That’s why I love Elektron: they always deliver. And that’s just the start of a long journey for this machine.

Yes, i thought the same, but the typical Wavetable transforms are missing, like odd /even, distortion, etc.

Uhe Hive allows for sub table divisions, which is dividing a wavetable into fragments, and use that as oscillator, while you can determine the speed of the scan in that subsection, and then modulate the subsections position.
Still hoping for a more specific option to achieve that - but ofc, its got a lot more useful with this update. Really appreciate it.

Wave table edit - generative would also be super cool, as seen on the Fairlight CMI 1979

There’s a thread for that

Does this now make Tonverk a synth?

Obviously (or not, indeed ) I was referring to that very thread

I want to land in a pattern that has the things I want to be heard already unmuted, and the things that I want muted are muted because when I am ready I want to be able to unmute them to reveal my planned content after jamming for a few minutes.

I am not muting tracks because I don’t want them there at all. I Understand that I can delete the tracks I don’t want. That’s a work around for creating a fixed structure, but no good for improvisation… ie playing live

Others have said it works the correct way in the digi boxes and this is how it works in every sequencer I have ever used in the last 30 years, why cripple this box by not implementing the mutes properly. They should be saved per pattern. .

Has anyone tried to update and open a project from the OS before?
I’ve built att live set for Saturday and I don’t know if I dare to update

Shouldn’t have issues with projects becoming overloaded anymore, I just tested and now if you load a multisample, then change that to a single player, it unloads the multisample (now that we can see the memory usage). You can also func+clear on a sample in the load sample list for single player/grainer/sub to unload it from the project which I think you couldn’t before. Yay!

:open_mouth: Can’t wait to try this!!

this is what I’ve been doing too n I agree, it’s actually made me more productive. with pattern mutes in my arsenal I tend to stick to single patterns n perform the mutes, and usually don’t record anything so everything ends up staying quite static.
with the verk I’m copying patterns, deleting tracks (or just the sequence) and moving forward. now I’m more working with a long flowing set made up of loads of patterns, which feels really organic. tbh tho I thought it would be an issue I’m a big fan of this limitation. who woulda thunk it

Can we now also use grainer as a pitch shifter or am I misunderstanding the functionality?

Pitch Shifter and Time Stretcher, yes

it sounds fkn glorious in your vid Jeanne. so good

Me too, that’s really weird and unexpected but I like a lot this behavior. With DT II I tend to be more lazy playing with mute / unmute using a very limited amount of patterns so less variations

I don’t have my Tonverk in front of me, someone can explain this to me?

It’s a little confusing just reading it for sure. Basically this is the default state for buses and send FX, they are set to this Shape machine - all is the same as before it was given a name, except of course now there is the added benefit from the filter / AMP options.

Buses can switch to the MIDI machine but Shape is the only option for the Send FX.

Presumably this opens the pathway to additional machine types for Buses and Sends. Or it just gives a nice name to the machine and makes it a bit more of a streamlined user experience.
