Elektron support replied to me, They said they cannot guarantee pattern save will be implemented in the future. This is a very baffling response IMHO, seems like pattern saving is not something Elektron has in mind for this device at present?!
Since this issue is a non-negotiable item for me, I have decided to return my Tonverk to the retailer. it is unfortunate, but cannot be helped. I can always repurchase a Tonverk in the future if things improve on this matter.
Keytrack as modsource. Iam lazy and copy myself from another thread:
I totaly see the TV as a polysynth which is different than all other polysynth cause its core are samples and not osc1,2,3 and a filter or a waveshaper and so on. The polyphonicaly playable samples plus the sheer amount of sequencable FX is the core of this synth-side of the TV, so to speak.
On the other hand its an FX machine, with the idea thats FX for sounds which are Midi-sequenced by the TV itself.
Both need Keytrack as modsource to serve a deep and lively sounddesign.
Iād love to see song mode get an overhaul. And have the option to stay within a kit/pattern that ticks along linearly, displaying bar : beat : step
And then navigating through the bars like you can currently flick through patterns in song mode.
If you chain together a load of 16 step patterns into a song, you can get an idea of what it would be like. I think it works really nicely. You can get to anywhere in the song easily by selecting the ābarā/pattern (SONG + up/down).
I prefer to create a new project for each track, then copy-paste the playlist of patterns to a project for a specific live set. This allows me to create different versions of the same track and use the appropriate version for a set without using up all the patterns in the āmainā project. This works well with the Digitakt and Digitone.
With the Tonverk, I wouldnāt mind re-assigning the samples for the single player tracks and reloading the saved kits for the subtracks. But it would be nice (or even essential) to be able to copy paste a pattern from one project from another.
Maybe it could also work by moving files around directly on the SD card? I had a look but didnāt really understand the file structure - it was easier on the Octatrack.
The multiplayer samples can be set with loop points and crossfades for them.
Itās not easy, it has to be done in the TOML on the .elmulti file. Iāve done it for my own multi player instruments, it works fine actually, but itās a little painful and you kind of have to āguessā.
I can only assume because the functionality does exist under the hood that it will eventually be accessible in the GUI.
Ok, so now the dust is somewhat settling, a thought came to mind after looking at the previous releases of Digitakt and Digitone firmwares.
We all have our own ideas for TV, but what do you feel is actually likely to come in terms of new features, such as machine, FX or similar? We know granular is likely, but what else do you think is the most realistic path over the next few updates?
Have hit a point where I really wish for the ability to zoom in on the waveform in the single player & sub tracks. I canāt think of a solid UI implementation for it but if Elektron can think of a way to get it in, itād be game changing.
When holding down the page button please let me immediately use the arrow keys to navigate. Currently, thereās a near 1 second delay. Iām guessing this is to ensure the page button is held and not pressed. I donāt really think thereās a serious risk of accidentally pressing an arrow key while paging through a sequence.
Transient detection for start point, end point and loop points. As @dannydisaster93 points out, some sort of zoom in and out would also be fantastic. Perhaps this could be done on a separate page. First page for larger edits, second page for small adjustments to the sample?
Cool new machine ideas
I love the FX we have but the sample machines feel a bit basic at the moment. Most of these probably wont happen but hey Mario said they had a lot more CPU headroom to work with so here it goes:
Morph
Blend between 2 sample slots. This can be done using a simple crossfade or perhaps with some fancier technique like spectral morphing (like in Zyntaptiq Morph 2). Maybe throw in some ways the 2 samples can affect eachother (FM, Xmod) and imagine the possibilities
Honestly I would even settle for a simple crossfade between 2 samples. That alone would open up a lot of cool sound design possibilities.
Freeze
Freeze a single moment in the sampleās spectrum and scrub through it. Amazing for ambient and experimental synthesis.
Vocode
I just really like them. Having it as a a sample machine instead of an FX machine means we could program notes more naturally. Source could be a different track, bus, or one of the inputs.
Wave
Wavetables. Probably has been suggested a lot of times already. Maybe throw in some wave shaping, folding or bending like in Pigments to spice this one up.
It would be useful to have the option of having FXs per project so that when making new patterns there are already the same sends and mix FX.
Also, when performing, if for example i choose a low pass filter on the mix track and tweak it, this tweak wonāt change if i change the pattern.
ćAnd anyway being able to copy-paste FX settings, especially sends and mix would be very convenient. EDIT : my bad this is possible by using the FX+copy and FX+pasteć
