I am disappointed to realize that mute is only for trigs and not audio.
I have some long samples and an audio mute mode would be very appreciated.
I could of course use the routing option with one bus at zero level but that’s a bit cumbersome.
Actually, routing too could have a per project option.
If you make some routing moves on the fly, changing pattern will recall the routing options for that pattern and it’s not very nice for performing.
Yessss, a vocoder. It probably won’t happen, but one can dream.
Independent effects on the subtracks would be nice!
Holding down FUNC could give the 8 knobs different assignments and could update the display accordingly. I think that would be a good way to implement it. Actually for what you’re describing, it would be best to just reassign knobs A and D and keep the remaining knobs the same.
I’m sure the requests below have already been mentioned in this thread, but to me these features are really missing to make the Tonverk the true nerve center of a live hardware setup:
Time Stretch: so that samples adapt to the tempo when it’s changed — for example, during transitions between tracks.
Sidechain on the compressor for all tracks, not only on Track 16 (Mix), so we could have, for instance, a kick on Track 1 and sidechain the bass on Track 2 using that Track 1 as the source.
This one is more complicated since it would require hardware changes, but an extra stereo input pair would have been great… Or maybe Elektron could develop a small USB-C accessory that adds jack inputs/outputs, which could be routed as either inputs (for external effects or synths) or outputs (for sending separate tracks to a mixer or sound engineer during live shows).
And finally, it would be amazing if the Tonverk — and actually all Elektron machines capable of sequencing external MIDI gear — could import MIDI files and automatically convert them into Elektron patterns, keeping note data, note lengths, velocity, etc. Nowadays, many music producers compose on a computer but look for dawless solutions for live performance. This feature would save us a huge amount of time instead of having to re-enter everything manually into the machine.
Edit1 : If you could also allow in the routing to choose a mono output (for example A or B) and not only stereo pairs (AB, CD, EF), that would be great.
→ If you Pan tracks you can have a kick only on A output and a bass on B output so it’s a solution
Edit2 : Currently headphone Output isn’t a real EF output as the Headphone output is a copy of MixAB and you can’t modify that… That would be great to be able to have a real EF output
Edit3 : as I previously mention, I would like to have the opportunity to send bass in a bus track and make a side chain with the kick track. Currently you can’t do that as the Sidechain option is only possible on the Track 16 (Mix) but here is a solution even if it’s no the best one : https://youtu.be/B4bgWDwR3A8?si=3hspyroKjGpm36f9
Note editing like Digitone 2. Being able to see all the notes for a step on screen and even add more, edit note offset, velocity, etc. I’d also like to be able to add notes from an external keyboard by pressing a step and inserting the notes manually from my Launchpad, for example.
Posted this elsewhere but it’s getting a lot of love so thought I’d chuck it on here too.
I have wondered if there could be an update in future where if you go into the library and tick a sample or after recording a new sample you get an option for ‘create subtrack kit’ where you make up to 8 slices on the sample viewer and it’ll auto populate a subtrack kit then you give it a name.
I would really like if some effects were modified. Some work fine, like the delays, reverb and compressor. But others are less usable to me. Seems like some are a bit extreme, while others could do more.
Chrono pitch: I like this, but I don’t get very musical effects of of it. Would be great if the window parameter worked in relation to tempo. And even better if it was coupled to the scale.
Degrader: drop could be toned down. It is very aggressive at the moment. Also I would love the drops to be softer, with some sort of fade in and out.
Filterbank: could be way more extreme.
Flanger and phaser: could be more noticeable. They are pretty subtle to me.
Frequency warper: I don’t have any use for this as is. Seems like an effect for people who like this effect, but it’s not very musical to me.
I think I could get a lot more use of of the effects that way.
You can use it to do bootleg time stretch.
Otherwise, in addition to the ones you mentioned, I think the chorus is pretty weak. I like putting chorus on bass with many other Elektron machines, but it is not working for me on Tonverk.
I would also really like it if there were more distortion types on dirtshaper. It’s nice having an onboard distortion that’s stronger than the (generally pretty weak) overdrive, but the tones available are not really working for me on a lot of material.
Edit: I also find it pretty wacky that I can’t just put any effect on any track I please. Double wacky that the main Mix track can only have 1 effect.
I’m a diehard Elektron fan, but I can’t say I’ve liked their chorus on any Elektron machine I’ve ever owned. To date, my favorite built in Chorus is on the Dirtywave M8
I don’t use the DTII chorus much on drum sounds but it sounds really, really cool when I go guitar → big muff → Earthquaker Easy Listening → DTII inputs. Super juicy guitar tone. Sounds cool on bassy synth samples too (especially if the sample has a good amount of higher frequency content, like a bass patch with one oscillator set to an octave up) but I like it best on guitar or guitar samples.
HI
New future TV user jiving in…
Felt like I could project a ‘‘never used an Elektron before’’ POV.
I’m make it quick … I don’t have time for forums anymore (I’m on many) been on the gear lust ride for over 20 years (done the :own lots/sell/ re-buy re-sell train), mist out on the Okta experience (silly rumor on how it did not sound good (it sounds great! MPC60 vibes if anything ), but I have to grow up and right in time as the Tonverk has killed all my gas its the one … where’s that highlander mem!)
so I’m here only to report some feedback as this is so close to the ultimate samurai sword and I’d like to push my ideas as some suggestions that are
hopefully useful to team Elektron
1st post will be pre-TV
2nd post will be first contact experience
3post will be review
Source
**Chop and Slice!
should dentally be here.
would be cool if slices could be earmarked to round robins
**Okta real time-stretching FX block!
** Wave-table scanning Source
** Aliasing playback Source
(similar to how the Polyvera has installed it (sound wonderful)
Performance
**16 x Scene state store
**Scene triggers
(like normal notes but sequencing scene states (with pitch & length applicable per trigger)
So some thoughts on UI experience: there’s a lot of arrow racing in when selecting FX and LFO destinations
If applicable
It be very nice to just hold FX and press one of the 16step keys to select a FX block
Same for LFO :
store favorite destination on the 16 keys
Same with Filter
‘‘just Hold the setup keys and press one of the 16 steps’’ to quickly jump to your favorite Filter settings (or LFO routing) … as of now the opus-operandi is often these repeated steps throughout a session…
And I guess it goes without saying that (Im sure its the product team intent)
holding down page button and pressing a step will jump to that bar/page and pressing two steps will set up bar loop start /end points in the sequence
(be cool to save these under scenes )…
Anyway Im getting way ahead of myself I’m just exited that Elektron created this amazing (far exceeding my own expectation) modular based sampler that sounds this good!!!..
So with that said, Glad to be here!! , you lot always have the biggest new gear party trains
and the music and experience level on the forum is to my likeness. Feels like home ![]()
I once read a comment from a Elektron team member who stated ‘‘we love designing instruments’’ …
well your passion clearly reflects in the Tonverk, from ascetics, through ideology to the crystal clear sonics Its an outstanding design/concept and I look forward to the experience.
Thank you Elektron for creating such a sensational sampler!
Thanks!
I forgot to mention although I’m sure this is in the wish-list somewhere…
but since I’m here
A capture buffer … similar to Abelton Move and MPC recall …
quickly MIDI recalls what you last played even though not in record mode
Render Audio /Re-sampler
I say render as it does not need to be in real-time and render would be applicable as ‘’ multisample a internal multi sample… so you could evolve multi-sample instruments with FX structures or just add some FX to Round Robins ,… it be similar to Akai flatten to pad but in a multi-samplings …
Thx!
A few more wishes:
FX blocks
Cross modulation FX
of 2 signals … like PM AM FM
So L/R would be input A/B from two channels and you can set depth and rate between two sources,
might need some sort of scaling as anything other than pure wave-forms will arrive very quickly at noise
Vocal Synthesis
Similar to TE Speak .
Speak and spell synthesis
So type in words and set up voices
This can be simple like word-text programs or something cooler like Waldorf Nave or that Casio Vocal synthesis…
…just a simple cool way to form sentences is all that’s needed as there will be so many ways to shape the phrases.
Every box needs a voice (or 3 types F M and robot.
And thinking of a cool modulation source … I came up with the idea of an
Envelope follower concept
(set up on an audio track (attack/decay/ release) ** with multiple destinations** (each destination with its
independent polarity and depth and multiplier …
So you can use this master mod source to affect many destination sources independently across tracks…
I feel its more complete / musical vs automation sequencer or a LFO designer or a another LFO as its a '‘rhythmic Master source’’ that can be shared and divided by multiple destinations
its more immediate and harmonically musical in that way ![]()
… I have some others wishes (applogies for the gear sperming) I’m just thrilled by the possibilities and the sound
…
but yes I really should hold on to my hat until I own one ![]()
ta!
just … one more thing after watching some workflow vids …
would it be possible to get a GUI feedback on parameters affected by LFO modulation
… feels like a bit dark in there without visual feedback
Takk!
I’ve always assumed this was a CPU limitation but surely TV has the power
I don’t think this has been mentioned already in this thread, but it has been mentioned elsewhere. I would like to see the acceleration curves for the knobs to be adjustable, they’re a little bit much for my liking.
As much as I love Elektron gear (currently running a TV/DNII/ST), I don’t think I’ve ever gotten everything I ‘want,’ feature-wise. But to be fair to them, I have gotten tons of cool things I didn’t know I wanted until they put them in there. I hope everyone gets what they’re hoping for, truly. I’m just taking the ride as it comes ![]()
I remember the DT launching without a compressor and with a single LFO. I think once a product line matures expect less crazy updates, but the TV I can see getting some pretty cool new features to play around with.
That said it is probably wise to temper your expectations nonetheless ![]()
