Tonverk Feature Requests

yes +1 to this

I think you would essentially need it to save just the routings and effects choices (no sequencer data)

i wonder if they could implement it more like a “kit” on the other machines, that way you could have the same presents across projects and patterns and tweak away

You are right! I had not yet loaded them using the SRC Setup page, only the patch icon next to the volume encoder

Feature request: midi subtracks!!!

This is an outstanding feature on my Oxi one and being able to trigger a bunch of syntakt channels with note data through a single tonverk track would be stupendous.

Even if separate channels couldn’t be accommodated the ability to set each of the 8 subtrack voices to a specific note would still open this up with a lot of external drum machines.

Don’t think this is possible yet, it would be nice to be able to apply some/all of the fx on just the top end of the sound, so as not to wreck the fundamental frequencies. Like Bitwigs multiband splitter. I’d think the FX parameters would just have a dial, below which the effect wouldn’t apply.

Agreed. MIDI subtracks would make TV a killer drum machine sequencer for just about any MIDI-capable drumbox. 256 step patterns, conditrigs etc, with direct jump… One of the better FRs I’ve seen so far

So basically 8 voices managed bewtenn 8 subtracks , meaning we can have 2 +4+2 on 3 tracks ?or 8 voices per subtracks ?

I believe the setting mentioned by garf determines whether each subtrack locks to a single dedicated voice or whether all 8 subtracks trade their 8 voices dynamically to avoid voice stealing.

We really need the ability to exclude the sidechain channel from compression, otherwise it sucks all the life out of your kick.

I hacked around this for headphones using Out EF (see here) but that’s not useful if you don’t use headphones - having an “Out AB” routing option which goes to AB bypassing the mix effect could be a fairly “easy” (to my mind haha) way to solve this without needing an extra control on the compressor.

Some way to sidechain buses would rock. I think I already said it upthread but the triggered amp ducking from Syntakt could be one way to do this without using FX slots.

That’s why I’m keeping the DT II. TV will not replace DT II.

Ok, about an hour with the Toneverk and this is what comes to mind:

:old_key: Assign one track to multiple buses

:old_key: Assign buses to buses

:old_key: Let send tracks be sent to other send tracks

:old_key: Freely assignable fx per send / 2 fx per send

If you’re not going to put synth engines, neighbor tracks, scenes, a crossfader and proper i/o on this thing let us at least go wild with feedback paths and parallel processing for rich effects textures and glue.

Also:

A limiter

A clipper

Rename filterbank to graphic eq

Add a filter bank

Pre-filter fx routing

Perform mode should keep the kit across pattern changes as that was the entire purpose of it being added on previous devices. Memorize/recall currently does the same thing then so it has no purpose, would be nice to be able to do fun performative FX tweaking while continuing pattern changes, pretty important for live performance.

Thks guyz for the clarification , during yeturday stream from EZbot , i asked him to try melodic stuff on the subtracks and ait wasn’t that eazy if not possible … this will be close to my deal breaker personnaly (not only that ) but i have the feeling that this product is still in beta and have been rushed because of mpc around the corner .

Oh yes, I heard there’s a new MPC generation coming, supposedly utilizing a more powerful SOC. This could indeed explain TVs launch timing…

TV doesnt have “kits” AFAIK. Performance mode here is supposed to be used as a “safety net” so that you can mess up your pattern as much as you want during performance, no chances will actually “stick” to the pattn permanently. I can only assume its meant for workflows where 1 pattn = 1 “song/track/motif”…

All the workarounds I’ve seen here just give me ideas to use with my 24-voice polyphony Nanobox Tangerine which I got for US$400. Combined with my Oxi One and a mono analog synth, it overpowers this, except in one area: effects.

I do like the box per the reviews, and I’m glad they made it. I’m definitely in the camp of defending multisampling, which a lot of people here don’t get.

There may be many reasons for multisampling an instrument: limited timbrality on synths, wanting to take something with you on the go, no presets on your synth, or sampling something you have an emotional connection to.

There’s also other ways to use it: spreading a drum kit across the keybed, sampling a drum from center to edge at different levels and with different articulations, one or more keyboard splits, etc.

And finally is that while some of us do like to push buttons to see what happens, we can also perform and lay down tracks in a traditional way.

Having said that, I get the sense that Elektron is overly cautious not to do overlap a given box with its other boxes. I think it’s a miscalculation, because most people can’t “collect them all” and are going to gravitate to the workflow they like best, and maybe get one or two. And if you’re having to get other boxes to do what you can already do with an iPad or a combo of less expensive boxes, then it starts making less sense at that price point.

The big selling point for Elektron is that everything is there and is immediate, to the point where the line between composition and performance becomes blurred.

Hopefully they add the slicing (with auto-note assign) and maybe some type of live resampling and parallel effects to allow for more experimentation. [Edit: removed some stuff about number of voices]

I will get this eventually, but I’ll wait until some of these synthfluencers sell theirs on Reverb lol

Some of the coolest features with sample mangling involve modulating samples/filters with other samples. None of the Elektron samplers have this ability—maybe the Tonverk can be the first.

Yes I’m aware and like I said, that’s exactly the same as memorize/recall. Press memorize, safety net on. Do anything, recall, back to where you were. Perform mode is the same with a different button, press perform mode for the safety net, do whatever, press it again and it turns off and you’re back to where you were. Consistency across patterns was the only difference for these functions before basically. If there’s any other differences right now I’m not aware, but maybe I missed something.

Its not completely same though, as performance mode auctomatically disengages when you change the pattn. This, for me personally, makes it very appealing.
