I actually don’t care AT ALL about slicing and timestretching, which everyone seems mad about.
BUT THIS ! 
I can do without slicing too!
I love this machine already.
The chord functionality of the Digitone 2 would be helpful though. Now I have to use the step editor for inversions, which is a bit more cumbersome.

The manual says it will stay engaged when you return to the pattern, unless you enter perform mode again on a different pattern.
It turning off between patterns changes (even not considering it keeping the same tracks etc as with the other new machines) makes it much less useful as well, as it isn’t really a safety net if it turns itself off. If you change patterns, you have to now remember to turn it back on with the new pattern, or you mess up the pattern. It was an actual safety net on Digitone 2/Digitakt 2 where you knew everything was fine during a live performance until you decided to turn it off.

Personally I’m not that worried about time stretching and sounds like that is not likely to come any time soon based on the reply someone posted, but it could be cool to be have a loop player machine which plays the sample at the right speed to match the tempo - but by changing pitch. It could even be just a shortcut which sets the global pitch so C3 is at the right speed or whatever. Would work for percussive stuff, obviously not melodic so much.

Hvaing played with this for an evening:
As others have mentioned, with sample start select per step, I’m not that fussed about sample slicing. It could be cool to be able to automatically or manually chop a sample into a subtrack though and sequence those different notes in one lane.
There should be a way for those with existing multisampled instruments (thinking Samples from Mars etc) to easily convert and use these by direct upload, rather than using the multisampling feature (since that is already done for you with these packs.)
Better categorisation of sounds as these presets/samples are going to be in one long-ass list otherwise.
Func+Transform is awesome. Additions to these patterns could bring interesting options like notes in a specific key, or euclidean rhythms.
Chord mode. Haven’t used Digitone so I don’t know what this is like in comparison. However, it’s great that we have some options like 7th chords, be good to get others like 9ths.
This was what they did on Circuit Rhythm if I recall with Beat Match.

Envelope follower in the mod sources. I think that one addition would open up such a huge wealth of creative potential (across all Elektron but especially TV). Having the ability to use an EF to layer and choke sounds and affect parameters would allow us to make way more complex sounds that doesn’t require continuously updating the patterns across several tracks in order for them to interact naturally and in interesting ways. Interplay across sounds and elements is such an essential part to sound design and composition, and with an EF it changes that from a very tedious manual process (where you don’t end up using it much) to a dynamic component and one of the biggest tools in the tool box. I used the Akai Force EF all the time to do cool stuff.

Assign Samples for Subtracks
The fact that the selection starts with every track in the root directory is very slow and requires a lot of clicking.
It would be better to have a function that starts with the next subtrack in the subdirectory of the previous sample—at least as an option.
Even better would be a selection directly from the sample bank that has already been created.
Or am I missing something and should read the manual?
There is still plenty of space in the personalization menu.

Better yet, you should be able to have a SAMPLE MANAGER type of screen, where you would have the typical Elektron management tools, and you could just press YES to checkmark samples, then press LEFT - select “LOAD AS SUBTRACK” and if you had checked 8 samples or less, it would auto populate a subtrack for you

If i select the busses or sends, i would love to see the fx pages first. Now I go to the routing page. But when making music I usually want to tweak fx instead of routing (this i do once or twice) and i have to press the track, and then fx to get there. Seems unlogical to me.

IIRC you can also use the sequencer trigs to select the page. So if you want the third page of a particular submenu, hold down trig 3 while pressing the relevant section button. I suppose this only works when not in record mode…?

Not sure if there is another thread or discussion about this, there should be but i cannot find it. WTF is with not having velocity or keytracking as a mod source? like, the most vital thing to have for both sounddesign and expressive playing, especially with polyphony? You have velocity to overall level, but you cannot even have velocity affecting say, a filter cutoff!! Or you cannot keytrack the length of an envelope, or speed of an lfo . For me, i’m not even considering buying a TV before this basic thing is implemented.

Would love a second master fx, even if it’s a very limited selection. A basic filter and compressor at the same time would be amazing for me.
Edit: bus-to-bus routing could a cool way to enable this. If I could send all my tracks, other buses and sends to one bus, I could use it as an extension of master (or even have the option to send master to a bus?). Maybe this isn’t feasible but it would open up a bunch of extra flexibility without needing to run any more fx than the device already can (as well as potential for stupidly long fx chains lol)

This machine has so much potential scope, looking forward to its development.
Got mine yesterday and been playing around with it these past two nights. Some things I think would be really nice additions:

indicator that you’re in perform mode (should light up the [ TRK ] button in the same way that the [ MUTE ] and [ PTN ] buttons are lit up under their different conditions

Arpeggiator steps should be able to follow the scale lock. Setting the individual step values should be able to respect the key if its active (or as an option on the ARP page)

Velocity range setup in transform - I think right now it’s uniformly distributed [0, 1] but oftentimes I would rather have it somewhere [0.3, 0.7] or something.

It does light up on mine! Not full brightness but like half. Perhaps yours is faulty if it does not?
