[FUNC+Knob D] on AMP page to turn Overdrive between 0/127 &/or other intermediate values
Iâve said this before, but Iâll say it again. Global MIDI track settings, and MIDI CC labeling. Most people have a static setup, so having all of the MIDI tracks ready to go regardless of what pattern is playing would be nice, as well as the ability to edit the names even if those names are restricted to 4 characters.
This so much!
Change the start point when using Werp. I was really surprised when I finally tried it and that wasnât an option.
Proper pingpong play mode is literally all the Digitakt needs now. After that they can close this thread.
GLOBAL OPTION for Keyboard settings:
I mostly use my Digitakt as a synth. To stay compact I use it a lot stand alone in chromatic mode, and use the patterns as sound-banks (like you would on a normal synth).
It would be handy to have a Global keyboard option, so that KB Scale, Root Note and KB Fold are applied to all track on all patterns!
Every time I need to change scale I have to set it separately on each pattern once at the time. I would love to able to make these changes once for all.
Same could apply to Digitone and Syntakt as well.
Midi-Section
The midi capabilities of the 8 channel sequencer were one major reason for me to buy the Digitakt: it is the centre of my small homestudio setup. But beside the elaborate sequencer the midi section is still pretty basic and lacks even simple general editing functions. The section could moreover use some workflow improvements.
-
note transposition for the whole midi track. Really nothing fancy.
-
an optical indication of the activated midi channel number on every midi subpage: i.e. an inverted colored box under internal midi channel name (A-H) for example âM-Ch.14â, or whatever. I memorize my synths by their midi channel number and donât want to remember additional Letters. Even just an indication that the MIDI channel is activated would be a significant improvement, i.e. by inverting the colors of the channel name box (A-H). Itâs just annoying to always have to switch to the source page to look up whether the channel is activated or which number itâs set to, or to hit the channel button to hear which channel is controlling which device.
-
option to disable sound preview for midi channel buttons, (at least while playing): Essential for live situations and with aforementioned marker for the active midi channels you would not be lost.
-
separate subpage memory for sample and midi tracks: changing pages in a sample track should not affect the selected midi subpage. This makes no sense at all.
General
-
base-width-filters for the insert channels to clean up the sound
-
kill switch function for the mixer/master page ([FUNC] + [LFO]): press encoder to mute the according channel: this could be a new way to perform for example layers of drones by blending in and dropping out sounds and layer them in
-
completely different key combinations for loading and saving temp states: I still think, the shortcuts are too similar and therefore are way to easy to mess up (especially with controll-all), which is always a major annoyance.
-
an actual bandpass-filter. Neither the base-width-filter nor the peak-filter sound like a true BP-filter
Midi retriggers.
The option to configure midi thru as a second midi out.
Pass pitch bend data. long overdue.
I second that!
My main request right now would be 128 steps instead of 64, thatâs the biggest limitation for me using the Digitakt.
I think that most of the functionality that we musicians want to see in digi boxes is not possible for hardware reasons, so I would ask Elektron to add a little thing to the digi called an âiPhone applicationâ. I can give 100% reasons why this is a step into the future for electrons and their beautiful grooveboxes. I have already begun to explain why I specifically registered and created a topic! Thanks to everyone who supports me with questions and comments in my topic. ĐĐĐ !
I think a better way would be if you could group patterns, to be treated as one.
I usually need three full patterns for a chorus or verse. So 128 steps would not be enough for that. But if you could group patterns and conditions would treat the group as one, I could use conditions for playing certain trigs only for the first repetition of the chorus, for instance.
That would be even better, but I imagine it might be more complicated to implement.
128 Steps! Yes! My main wish since ever!
To the contrary. Increasing to 128 steps per pattern would require a hardware change, unless you go for some kind of kludge, to indicate what page youâre on.
Roland MC-101 manages to show where you are on 128 steps with 4 lights.
Sorry, got it wrong. It communicates which half of the 8 bars youâre on with the two lights above the four.
How? By inverting the lights?
Canât remember ⌠I know I have no issues knowing wether Iâm on the first 4 or last 4 ⌠will check.
Sorry, post above corrected.
Thatâs what I was thinking: using the existing 4 page âhardwareâ but using different lights to indicate youâre on the 2nd page of each page (itâs how the Oxi One works, by the way).
If itâs not physically possible to display a different color on those page leds, then maybe just a dimmer light for the 2nd page or something.
Either way, as long as there some information on the screen about on which page youâre in, the lights wouldnât be much of an issue (for me at least).
The digi boxes already use half intensity to show how many pages the pattern has and at the same time shows the playing page with full intensity. So adding even more light combinations on the four leds would be very confusing.
Sorry, I got it wrong. Post above will be edited.
