The Digitakt Feature Request Thread

Sending the Digitakt’s audio track sequencer data as MIDI.

Imagine you could:

  1. Record your patterns to MIDI note data.
  2. Record Parameter Locks via CCs to automation lanes.
  3. Edit the pattern and automation in your DAW.
  4. Mute the Digitakt’s sequencer tracks, and use your DAW to play the Digitakt, parameter locks and all!

This would make the Digitakt the perfect hybrid sampler in my opinion. (Plus being able to sample into the Digitakt through Overbridge).

I’d even be happy to trade the dedicated MIDI tracks for this feature (For example if there was a way to link each MIDI track to an audio track and send the corresponding note and CC data).

Great idea!

Problem is you’d need Parameter Slides like you have on the Analog Four.

If you slowly opened the filter across a pattern with an LFO and then baked it into parameter locks like your example, you’d end up with the filter stepping through equal values on each TRIG, rather than a smooth glide. (Unless you had Parameter Slides)

Awesome idea either way!

Much like the global mixer & FX it would be great if track sounds could be the same across patterns. This would be helpful for times where I’ve already made many patterns but want to tweak a kick drum, for example. For some reason this can be a real mental blocker for me in finishing songs (probably an issue with me rather than the software, but bear with me).

The way I would see this working would be:

  1. trk+save stores that sound as the default for the track (for example a kick on track 1), across the bank.

  2. Switching to any blank pattern within that bank, the default sound is pre-loaded into track 1. When a track is following that default it has a visual indicator showing that this is the case.

  3. Making any modification to the sound breaks it away from that default - it’s now its own sound and the visual indicator is removed. Perhaps the kick is now a pad for example.

  4. trk+reload sets the track to the default sound again, the visual indicator appears once more.

  5. If a modification is made, and trk+save is hit then the default is updated and all patterns where track 1 is still following this default are updated too.

There are probably edge cases I’ve not thought of here - but at first consideration this feels to me like it would be relatively helpful, not get in the way of people who want to ignore the feature entirely and not too destructive for users who stumble upon it by mistake. It also has a somewhat similar behaviour to pattern saving so builds on existing UI.

This is my idea. Trig lock heaven.

+1 on MIDI configs saved as sounds on Digitone, Digitakt and other MIDI tack capable devices!! Running into my Digitone + Perkons scenario, where I’m moving between patterns and would love to recall sounds I’ve configured in past, by name. Perkons can save kits, which are nameless, Digitone/Digitakt Pattern saves the MIDI Track & CC Mappings and per voice params, just about the only missing thing is saving the MIDI Track config as a “Sound” of sorts. Maybe a MIDI Sound? :sunglasses:

I’ve been processing some stereo field recordings to a mono file with the mid followed by the side, then using the slice grid set to 4, slice length 2, then playing the mid on one track and the side on another.

It’d be great to be able to have control all only control a specified choice of tracks so I could “control all + track + toggle the tracks that will be control all’d” so I can affect just my pair of mid/side tracks together.

(This could also be good for left/right stereo pairs.)

I like your approach

Could you please add display animation for any modulated parameters? this would make this so much more fun to play and useful to be able to see what the values are. thanks!

Please consider adding the ability to mute LR outputs from Headphone outs so that main tracks can send to external effects and return to the compressor/fx block out the Headphone jack? Like cue.

I’d like an envelope follower, assignable like a lfo for additional modulation. It could be a new lfo shape option maybe ?

Can’t be done, headphones and line out are the same signal.

surely already mentioned:

  • ping pong loop playback (to elongate samples)
  • quick save sound trigs as sounds to the project sound pool
  • simultaneous record start & playback (with count in)
  • possibilty to trigger sounds from the sound pool on a single track
  • zero crossing
  • detail view of start & end point
  • basic sample editing features like on MPC1000: crop, discard start <-> end, fade in, fade out, etc.

Input page should act like mixer, Reverb and Delay independent from dry volume.

This is fairly minor quality of life one. It would be amazing if - when using song mode - the row mutes didn’t reset when switching which pattern is assigned to the row.

Often many of my patterns will be rhythmic/melodic variations with the same instruments per track - so this change would make it much easier to swap patterns during the arrangement stage without having to remember (or even write down in my case) which mutes were set. It’s also fairly easy to unmute everything after changing the pattern, if the current flow is preferred by some folks.

Support for midi sustain hold - similar top the digitone. Then you could use is as midi-patch-bay master with one Keyboard for many Synths…

I’m sure this has already been asked for, but I’ll ask again. In the direct sampling page, add an additional cue setting to wait for the next loop point then record for x bars. I would love to be able to record in an 8 bar pattern from an external signal live, fade out the original, and then later bring in the recorded sample after assigning it to a track and maybe chopping it up with the new machines.

This would add so much flexibility.

I’m pretty sure it already does what you’re describing; you may need to turn on Keyboard Fold, and make sure the slice selector is set to note. It then sets a pad per trig, lights up the 1 in blue, and you can page through with the arrow keys if there are more than 16 slices…

lol yeah of course totally my bad

The ability to drag samples from your DAW directly onto a track using overbridge is all I could ever want at this point

i’m sure this has been requested 999 times before but, for the love of whatever you want, please pingpong play mode.
