That Syntakt Sound

dual vco squelch.syx (35.4 KB)

here’s the pattern. if anyone wants to expand it - feel free, or just keep and use it for something else.

it’s a simple 6 step pattern (track 10) combined with a couple trig conditions and lfo work.

Thanks, but I’m not worthy of that title  So many talented people around here. Be great to share some ideas though!

can you save p-locked trigs as sounds on Syntakt? the way you can on the new digi 2’s.

This is the second track from the same EP I’m building using just Elektron Syntakt + Octatrack. Same rules:

  • Everything goes straight into the Analog Heat (Enhancement mode)
  • Then into the Octatrack, where I shape and filter.
  • One stereo take, no multitrack
  • Mastered quickly in Ableton, just to keep things clean but still raw

This time I leaned into a slightly darker vibe, letting the Syntakt pulse more aggressively while using the Octatrack for more ambient textures and subtle transitions. I’m still trying to keep the workflow as fast and instinctive as possible.

Outstanding. I love the mood, groove, and overall performance. The sharpness and textures of the melodic parts are fantastic. :ok_hand:

Syntakt is the foundation for all of these tracks on my latest release… been inspired by pop/edm vocal samples lately but it probably all just boils down to some weird 90s nostalgia. Also I’m not a very good singer so it’s fun to use other voices sometimes.

Aside from ST and random vocal samples from Splice, each track has some electric guitar, mellotron, and bass guitar. That’s about it. Been really enjoying Soundtoys’ new Spaceblender plugin a lot too.

Also shoutout to @Jeanne for the great ST soundpacks. I used a lot of the hats and a few super punchy kicks from Drum Spells on these.

Guyz sorry to ask this question here , but if i want to sync an elektron device A to an elektron device B , usually we connect midi out on midi in of the other , but if i want to control transport from both , if i do a midi loop Midi in / out on both , does it works or does it glitch (i want to enable send clok , transport and programm change on both )

Hey @Zo, I must admit I’m on thin ice here, as I’ve never tried this. I would recommend that you test it. The worst possible outcome is that both machines will freeze, which can be fixed by power cycling them both.

I would start by connecting both cables, and setting one up as a regular master with transport send, clock send and program change enabled.
Then set the other up as a regular slave, with receive enabled on all three parameters, transmit disabled on all three parameters.

Then enable progam change send on the slave, and test it.
If it works, enable Transport send on the slave. Test it.
Finally clock send. Test.

My guess it that enabling clock send on both will fail. Transport and PG change might work, as long as they’re not sending competing/conflicting messages or simultaneous messages.

On a general note, my feeling is that using a setup like this is like asking for trouble. Is there a reason you need to use both machines for these tasks? Personally I would find it easier to set up, change and trouble shoot these parameters on one unit rather than two.
