it’s because people do actually like Op-Z and some of the things TE does. ableton move can’t actually do what Op-Z can do, it’s really a uniquely powerful piece of hardware. the price is just complete parody.
The Brain feature, which iirc was on the original OP-Z really comes to life with an on-board screen. It’s implementation in the OG-Z was okay-ish at best for me, and really required the external screen to better understand what was going on.
This looks so much more usable!
It looks like an amazing sequencer workstation (many of which comparable products can get super pricey $$)
love it, though i miss photomatic!
well, can‘t have it all i guess
Spoke too soon… Except preset kvarnofon perhaps a couple more, but at least 90% of it.
Absolutely agree. And the OP-1Field as well! What a great mind!
@MichaalHell
the manual talks about multiple filter types pressing Shift+3
but doesn’t list the types, can you?
What are we workin with?
this is a one on one OP-Z workflow and iam glad they did it like that!
this sheds a new light on the OG Z because the overall complexity is just there add some IOS device and you‘ll notice all the functions
ooo Manual states that the OP-XY doesn’t feature Auto-Save
that’ll take some getting used to, spoiled with TE products usually having auto save haha
Awesome! Haven’t had a chance to listen to your new work yet, but I own and love all your OP-1 Field packs. In fact, I’ve gushed to TE’s support about them before. They said “and thank you for sharing all these sound packs with us, we’ll definitely check them out!” - this is because I was asking their support to raise the 500 sound limit on the Field.
Excited to see if/where they take the ‘players’ concept. If they add more ‘player’ features than Maestro and Arp over time.
Now that I think about it though, that is sort of how the drums kits work on the original OP-1
That’s… really strange. Just got my first Elektron box (Analog Four MKI) and it also is exactly where it was, when power cycled. (But you can manually save or restore from that temp state)
Very odd for OP-XY not to do this. Firmware update?
I actually think the OP-Z is quicker the led light elements which uses color to indicate functions is incredibly fast on the Z.
It took some time for me to adapt to the XY and its slower pace, due to the screen. But I think now that I have gotten to a point where I’m very fast with the XY
It’s an evolution, better quality (no pops) and you can also change the loop length a lot easier but it’s basically the same
I don’t think alienating the bulk of your customer base is the win you think it is
Ladder
SVF
Z lo pass
Z hi pass
All resonant and have key tracking and its own ADSR
can’t remember but if that’s the case this is still the 4th time out though…
I guess I’m just tired of people adding this engine and that engine and leaving sampling features out… I’d be beating a dead horse if it wasn’t always being reincarnated…
welp, gotta keep an open mind
And you can now use step components on the brain
the OP-Z as companion with a line module attached can do basically anything the XY does.
if you sequence the OP1 (drum page) from the OP-Z (connected via usb) using the OP1f as velocity sensitive controller input but also mirroring own sequences and sounds with additional fx/tape tricks thru OP-Z (connected via bluetooth)
main functions are all OP-Zs and it’s cheap in comparison, could basically add any common IOS synth, granular, looper & drum synthesizer, FX to its sound palette via USB 🪚
Sample time is still only 6 seconds? I read through the manual and didn’t see an answer for this but generative AI through google search says only 6s. Anyone know if that’s true or not?
