It will probably have an XY pad like the KAOSS PAD.

i think it would be cool if it wasnt a direct op-z successor and something in between an op-1 and an op-z. not sure what that would look like but im here from some nifty looking product design

yeah I have a feeling that the newfound OP-XY is going to go toe-to-toe with Move (even though it probably wasn’t intended).

It’s going to be a hard battle at this point, Move is pretty solid.

Looking forward to a big surprise from TE

How about an OP-Z, but with a grid of buttons instead of just one sequencer row?

yeah you nailed it. kinda hope its basically a TE Move, then i wont be tempted at all, i already have the far superior mc-101 :smirk:

using opz with opxy we’re going to have 3 dimensional sequencing.

Rolli collab???

It’s gonna be something you can pair with the OP-Z so that you get the full XYZ. Plus a firmware update of the Z itself to accompany the release, and a special package of both devices inside a tote bag.

I think TE could actually pull that off and make it really cool. It could be another way to parameter lock or motion record values in the sequencer instead of the disc dials on the op-z. Or a way to control the intensity of punch-in FX or manipulate a tape track. Hold the corresponding punch-in FX button and adjust the intensity/rate with the x/y pad.

Come on, I expected more from you! If you’re going to make fun of TE, the joke should be funny at least

Edit: That joke was as flat as a two dimensional plane.

My bet is that it will be pocketable (at least akin to field series and op-z, and use some level of square workflow, whether it’s in a mod matrix style or a pad grid style, but likely not more than 4 x 4 (maybe 8 x 8 but they’d really have to make the buttons small) in a device that will aim to fill the op-Z’s role in the lineup with a more updated feature set/hardware, but also heavily tailored towards integrating across all TE’s devices (and external gear) as the “one device from TE you should own” whatever your setup may be.

That feels on brand with their recent development philosophy.

A couple things to throw some more fuel to the fire:

  • The guy who posted on reddit is def connected to TE much more than just working in retail. Wouldn’t be shocked if he works for TE. He was spot on in the past and knew 3 months ahead of time, which wouldn’t happen if he simply worked in retail. He also said things like “we have been active in this group for a long time” and “just putting the finishing touches on things” which people originally thought was bullshit, but doesn’t seem to be so anymore

  • At superbooth 24 TE were very open about another big thing coming this year to a couple people I know who attended. They even mentioned to not completely fill out their holiday list just yet. They weren’t shy about another product coming out this year, but wouldnt give more details than that.

youre right, looking through that persons comments it’s clear they know much more than a regular retail worker would.

he’s also said stuff like “everything i’ve mentioned has been approved in advance”
which as far as I understand is not a privilege that retail workers get, i’m sure they’re more often than not left out of the loop until it’s already a done deal. I can’t imagine how leaks would be contained otherwise
