Tangerine from 1010 Music

And yes, there’s a battery pack coming to the nanoboxes. It’s quite neat, too.

can’t find info on filter, is it low pass only? also no legato/portamento right?

100% converters matter specially jn samplers

I very much doubt there is an ESS Sabre32 in these devices

What is possible is the DAC of the blackbox is a model from 2019 (which is when it was manufactured first believe) and the one equipped on the tangerine is a more recent one resulting in different sound and to your ears, better sounding which is entirely possible

No legato or portamento.

The filter is both - tone it down and it becomes a low pass filter. Tone it up, it becomes a high pass filter. You can’t have both, tho, like you can in the other nano boxes. There’s also resonance, which in this case is surprisingly efficient in toning especially the low end frequencies.

The filter is actually more like a eq than anything else, with just the hint of character. As digital filters go, it’s quite lovely.

Yes, I believe this is the case on everything you said

Here’s another one, sampled through the Tangerine input, processed dry without any fx, though one of the pads is sent through the Lemondrop as well, into the final mix - this is just me launching loops on and off, no sequencing -

i really like the idea of this box… ive come to realize that in order for my creativity to flow i need a type of feng shui on my desk, a feng shui that matches my mind in sorts.

The Analog Keys is a great example. it truly feels like the fully realized version of the analog 4. its sounded great and was not horrible to use. But since it took up so much space on my desk it hindered my creative flow, because i felt like i always needed to use the keys and i always needed to use the device itself at all times.

The same applied to the SP-404 i wanted to use it like i want to use this box, but while it is not big, it was physically bigger than how i mentally thought of its use, (mental size if you will)

Ive come to realize that the physical size has to match my perceived mental size. for the device to fully click with me. So if i want something that does a small task, like a box that adds moody loops, i want the physical size to match the size that the function is to my music… Am i actually making sense here or do i sound completely insane?

To my ears, the BB filter sounds nicer on clips / arrangements in a mix than on single instrument (non-drum) samples. For the latter, I find the low pass region to have a nasal / thin character, more precisely within the -10 to -24% range.

That’s why for clips, if I need a filter, I most often set it between -25% and -45%, while for multisamples I tend to use it more surgically. Perhaps my ears have been spoiled by analog filters for too long

You sound insane. Which is why you make so much sense. I am so with you on this one. Let’s just go mad together

When? Official or third party?

BoBeats said that 1010 themselves are doing it. From his remarks he hadn’t seen it though, he was speculating about the form factor. (Or was he ? )

EDIT: can’t remember exactly how Bob Eats expressed it, but he suggested it might turn out to be a neat little container the nanoboxes slip into.

Is circuitghost an insider or beta tester to know they are “neat”?

I’m a beta tester. The “neat” expression is my subjective opinion after having seen one myself. And yep, it’s an official 1010 battery pack. And 1010 is okay with me mentioning.

I won’t say more than that, tho.

The Tangerine has fx? I couldn’t find that inf. mentioned on their site.

Yep. Reverb and delay. Both serviceable, for sure. Not Meris quality, but for a mix to just open up, they work just fine.

Ok, thanks for the reply.

Maschine+ is a much better option imo.

The effects and built in sounds and synths are miles ahead, better quality hardware too.

Raum reverb is god like!!
