Tangerine from 1010 Music

Hm, not sure I understand exactly what you mean, but I think it can
That’s how I used it, and I found it pretty flawless in this game

I have bb. It takes multiple tedious presses for each recording.

OK, I always used the same setup with the pads preconfigured (for length mainly, but I think a recent update added the option to record quantized with any length). But once I had this template, I just had to tap a pad to record, and it would start playing right after the end of the recording.
But probably we are not talking about the same thing.

EDIT: maybe it was tapping the Record button

Pedantic. It’s adhesive because it has glue on it. It’s what happens when you pull it off again, is the issue. There’s resale value to consider, for example.

this sounds interesting, I’d like to have a bash. how do you do this exactly?

I borrowed a Lemondrop recently and one of the things I tried was running a little radio through it. If you have live input enabled on one or both granular ‘oscillators’ and hold C4, you can adjust the window size and spread of the grains and get a mix of the older and newer stuff in the buffer. I forget what the maximum length of the buffer is. It’s not super long, but long enough that I got a neat fading effect between tracks.

A lot of people would raise an eyebrow at the idea of Apple products and being financially sensible being mentioned in the same sentence.

But my point still stands - laptops and iPads do not mysteriously appear in one’s house, they have to be bought, thus it is idiotic that people keep comparing the cost of dedicated hardware devices like the Nanoboxes to the price of apple software alone. This doesn’t even account for the fact that many people - myself included - actively dislike doing music on laptops.

It’s strange this particular product gets bashed with it so often. I don’t notice anyone making the same comparison with, say, an OP1F, nor demanding the right to swap out the firmware on it. Is it because they have touchscreens and so people make lazy comparisons to iPhones? Or is it 1010 shooting themselves in the foot with swappable eurorack software in the past and creating a meme that will haunt them forever?

My only real complaint with the nanoboxes is they need more regular updates. Maybe if the internet hadn’t largely taken against these devices, they could offer better support.

i have been thinking about an MPC One for the multisampling integration, this lil guy looks right up my alley

nice. I had noticed the granulations transitioning while I’ve been experimenting with the live feed but I didnt see that as a use for it. so did you have the ungranulated live feed turned up too and ran the granules over it?

as lovely as phones are. 99% for work emails and tiktok. people still like dedicated machines so as not to be at work or looking at tiktok.

most people might also have a little nausea at fulfilling their life’s mission as a predictable droid with their iphone, swiping their finger to make beats. Feels a bit like you were expected to do this as an aspirational consumer of megacorp.

there is a growing market for standalone cameras, musicplayers and more, fighting back against the ‘your phone has everything you need in one giant info cloud that knows everything about you’ world.

You’re way overthinking it. If you already have an ipad in the house, and you can’t afford to spend the money on more hardware, see if you can find an app that fulfils that need. If you do, great, you’ve saved some money. If you can’t, bummer, then go for the nano. It’s not rocket science.

Some of us have had these for quite a while, and replace them as needed, and may even have work pay for them. I personally make sure I have an iPhone that is not so old that it is unsupported, even if it is not the latest and biggest, and considering the absurdly low price of most iOS music apps, this is a pretty compelling argument for me against the nanoboxes (I don’t like using a laptop for music either). I don’t spend a lot of time trumpeting this on 1010 threads, and don’t expect anyone else to make the same calculation. But I think it is a legitimate point of view.

Not sure what exactly you’re doing but Blackbox surely does what you’re asking for.

Oh! Mystified by this, I spent ages trying. I got it set up with Launchpad ok (but that gives you four zones of pad for record/clear/play). Standalone I could get it so I could play with one tap on a pad. But not record. Weird. Can’t face trying again I don’t think. There are limits to patience, and I speak as someone who has conquered the octatrack, so I think I’ve had lots. Maybe I had a weird blackbox blindspot.

You can power it with the op1f and play it from that right? Just one usb c cable between them?

Why the new product should sound better than the Bladkbox? It makes no sense to me
You mean it sounds different?

Absolutely nothing happens when you pull it off, 0% residual left behind, 100% resale value.
Clearly you’ve never used the stuff or have even looked into it.

would love the entire collection almost like larger easier to use fancier versions of the Teenage Pocket Operators. Do these have an internal rechargeable battery?

Nope. No USB audio. You still need a line cable as well.

Converters matter. Tho if they do in this case, I’ll admit my imagination could be at play.
