Syntakt Science Lab #25: SD Vintage (The last one!)

Hello friends, it’s time for the very last regular Syntakt Science Lab.

I’d like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has participated in this lab series. Especially the regular posters, but also everyone who has posted sounds, or just cheered from the side line. I’ve had immense fun doing this, and have learnt so much. I hope you’ve had fun as well.

I feel a bit sad that this is coming to an end, mostly because of the nice community feel that it’s given me. I love you peeps  For me, this is what the forum is about.

This does not mean that the SSL threads are closing. All threads will be open as long as this forum exists. I hope people will discover SSL threads in the future, and breathe new life into them. I’m positive there is more to uncover in the Syntakt.

So, on to the last lab:

Our one remaining machine is SD Vintage. This is a digital machine, which again leaves us with eight available tracks. The parameters are very specific to this machine, which hopefully means that there are some unique timbres available here.

The regular stuff:
As always, post your contributions in this thread along with:

  • Audio file
  • Project file
  • Some words on your inspiration, techniques used, and other aspects explaining how you ended up where you did.

Dusty techno vibes with 6x SD Vintage. Some nice rich ‘flute’ textures in there and some interesting hihat things as well.

Awesome! This almost belongs in the Blawan thread. Those breathy sounds are very cool.

This is too long, but I was enjoying myself with a bit of a freak out.
Three tracks of SD Vintage, lots of FX Block, found several nice spots with INHM and FCMP lock trigs on a long note trig.

Nice sounds peeps
SD Vintage was hard at first, but getting nicer with more tweaking.

Thanks! Haha yes, it does have a bit of Blawan in there

:elephant:

SD Vintage is definitely capable of some evocative sounds!

@mishpult I like the almost reverse sounds you get out of it.

@Nils Thomas has some really cool snare sounds with the short delay/verb that’s going on. And the merry-go-round makes we want to go to a theme park

@verdurin Nice atmospheres!

Here’s a little melodic one with several layers with different track lengths and probabilistic behavior.

Hi Syntaktonauts!
Here’s four tracks of SD Vintage and using the delay wide and at a high speed to fake a chorus.

Seems like it’s not too hard to push into flute or plucky territory.
