Syntakt Science Lab #22: SY Raw

So it’s time for what is probably the last remaining “Swiss army knife” in our Syntakt Science Lab series…: SY Raw In many ways similar to SY Dual VCO, but with a distinct flavour and slightly different controls. Excited to listen to what you come up with this time!

The usual:
Post your contributions in this thread, including…

  • Audio file
  • Project file
  • Some words on your inspiration, techniques used, and other aspects explaining how you ended up where you did.

I have so many videos on SY Raw haha. It’s indeed the analog swiss army knife of the Syntakt. Let’s see if I can come up with something interesting for this lab I haven’t tried yet.

SY Raw and Dual VCO have kept me from having interest in buying any more monosynths.
I have THREE tracks of classic synthesizers crammed into my drum machine and I love them!

This challenge can go anywhere. Have fun everyone!

Eager to see what people get out of this one ! To me Raw feels like a “basic purposes” tool, I’ve been trying stuff for the past hour and it’s pretty hard to get some interesting stuff out of it (which doesn’t mean it isn’t useful though). Still managed to get hypnotized by that analog sound, here’s a classic Kick/hat, big phased Bass/pad and some “dfam-esque” textures

Just some melodic stuff with a bit of track layering and keytracking the detune. And of course some filter pan :stuck_out_tongue: 3x RAW with one of them just being a bassline.

Revisiting a classic today: The SY Raw DFAM. I think the only thing I’ve really changed is adding some audio rate Filter Pan at a very low depth for some more grit. 1x SY Raw because that’s all you need :stuck_out_tongue:

Love the raunchiness. SY Raw is capable of some proper dirt :sunglasses:

I’m busy setting up my new Mac, recording not possible atm… but I’m getting there, and making some new patterns now and then

Some murky SY Raw dance.

Two alternating patterns of three tracks all going through the FX filter sending to delay.
One track is doing eight steps of percussion. The other two are busy with the melodic runs. I like how ugly it can sound with detune!

I just read that again and that’s awesome!

Finally got my new mac set up for recording. It’s been an emotionally rough time :joy:

A couple more. Playing around with different timbres over the same theme.

Analog sweeps

A more subtle clangy version

That buzzy Solina sound is great! Lovely progression as well

This would be great playing Funeral of Queen Mary from the Clockwork Orange :crown:

Good grief that has some serious Oxgène energy.

Had some free time thanks to a typhoon. Lucky we didn’t lose power in my area!

This is three SY Raw tracks playing the same pattern at different scales. It’s simple but it felt so fancy.
