We’re making a smooth transition from the “Can Syntakt mimic Nord Drum” Science Lab Special, where SY Toy played an important role in many of the posted clips. SY Toy is Syntakt’s only physical modelling machine, and as such it offers a unique palette and controls within the Syntakt universe. I look forward to listening to what sonic gold you’ll find in the nooks and crannies of this unique machine.
Toy is a very subtle one, I’ve noticed, the FORM parameter goes from metallic to woody and back to more resonant in its range, where almost each small change is meaningful. IMP and PART play together and give different flavor in different pitches. Also the filters are important with this one, to being diff timbres. @Oxenholme djembe pattern above blows my mind, still need to research his project file.
Remembered why I don’t use SY TOY much when coming to this Lab - a lot of the time I actively dislike the sound…
As discussed, shows I need to try harder.
This is quite twee, four tracks of TOY, then copies of those four tracks not routed to main audio.
Relatively restrained use of FX Block, though too much Drive possibly.
Using Ctrl-All for trig probability.
Not much sound variety but I do quite like the TOY sound for once:
Hoping this will motivate me to achieve something more timbrally interesting.
Nice work all of you! I listened quickly through the clips posted so far and my first thought was; how do you manage to get such mature/refined sounds? So far I’m struggling to get something interesting going. I probably need a bit more time with it.
Looking forward to listening more closely to each clip in my cans
EDIT Listened more closely now. @Oxenholme I’m amazed by your mastery of this machine and the fantastic sounds you squeeze out of it. @verdurin sweet melodies and an almost harp-like sound at times. Lovely dynamics. @mishpult Great vibe as always, and those phasey ominous timbres are superb. @elxsound Lovely mysterious vibe.
