Syntakt Patch Requests (Alpha Juno 2 Hoover)

Heya,

I was wondering if anyone here has been able to re-create a convincing Roland Alpha Juno Hoover Patch on the Syntakt? The “Dominator” sound.

If so, would you mind sharing the patch/preset?

Cheers!

does Syntakt do pitch envelopes? one of the other unique features of AJs that makes the hoover sound is a multi-stage envelope. if you only have basic ASDR may be hard to replicate faithfully

yes, there‘s one in my Tone Spells Soundpack, Link: Sound Pack: Drum Spells & Tone Spells for Syntakt It has the „meoooow“ pitch envelope, which then can be adjusted or removed for other hoover riffs.

Sy Bits does pwm, but only with square waves. Alpha Juno does pwm with saw waves, so Sy Swarm sounds much closer (even though it is supersaw and not saw pwm).

i‘m on travels right now, but here are two examples i posted a while ago. both all syntakt. i am actually considering doing a raver soundpack :stuck_out_tongue:

i guess you could use an lfo to fake this

i am specifically aiming for this exact sound.
It’s not that hard to set up but I need some sort of PWM trick to make it sound convincing.

If you press the respective page button when taking the picture, you can see the values of each parameter.

there are more parameters??? i’m new to this thing

No, it’s just that when you press a page button (FLTR for example), you see the values of each parameter.

yesss!! that’s what i am talking about! very nice :sunglasses:
would you mind uploading the patch?

Similar to swanage_fan, but the subosc has to be -2. Since we don’t have chorus, I make a copy and hard pan the resulting two tracks. This already sounds very familiar and might be all one neds.
The Alpha Juno has a very special kind of PWM (it cuts two holes into the saw, resulting in sounding octave doubled), I copy the whole thing one more time and detune it an octave up. Detuning everything slightly helps, too.

Here’s my Hoover playlist, where I make Hoover on every synth I get my hands on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKjiJX_1B8E&list=PL-MKoQp4lob35zJRMqNtK0NSBCVsCskKm
There are also two tuts inside, and in one vid you can hear the original patch on an actual Alpha Juno 1.
I’ll add a Hoover tutorial for the Syntakt soon
