SYNTAKT Bugs Thread

after uploading 128 mixed samples (really long) it took a while to properly boot up and sometimes it felt a bit flakey, let’s stress test for the win :1st_place_medal:

A Syntakt new takes 30 seconds to boot if you fill it with samples…

Mine starts up in about 10 seconds. I have all 64 slots filled

It really depends on how large your samples are and if you fill the whole 32 mb of sample memory.

I’ve got 64 one shots totalling 7,1 mb and my Syntakt only takes a couple of seconds extra to boot. It’s really a non issue.

V1.4 BUG: single machine voice hanging on a single track seems repeatable and the only way to fix is a reboot - tried everything it’s not a midi stuck note - seems to apply to all machine on that track until reboot

it’s also hanging across patterns and machine changes - I can’t get it to stop

@wxcltv even pressing stop button twice didn’t help?

If it is repeatable, please send a ticket to support with description and preferrably project attached - and we’ll take a look!

It’s very repeatable ! I can’t get rid of it - voice 8 seems to do this often. Same issue on the Tonverk the only way to get the double voice octave (reply) is to reboot. On the Tonverk - I can occasionally switch programs and it clears the hiccup. The Syntakt Lockes it in like a virus across all programs on that track.

no, dice - I wish it did !!!

Sounds like some MIDI issue.

yeah, but it’s not - it’s a voice issue - I have the same problem with the TONVERK.

The only thing that fixes it is a reboot

it’s a big issue as it’s messing with my ability to perform professionally @elektron

As mentioned above, in case you already have sent your steps on how to reproduce it to support we will take a look. Alternatively if you post your steps here and see if the community get the same results.

Does it still occur with no other equipment connected? USB and 5 pin din? Have you tested it completely standalone?

thank you Thomas - here’s what I submitted yesterday to technical support. Please see below for your input

PS: Are you aware of this same issue (voice douple trigger w octave pitch on release) on the TONVERK, I think I saw other people reporting it there ?

Subject: Possible bug on Syntakt track 8 (digital machines “hanging”)

Hello Elektron Support,

I’m writing about a recurring issue with my Syntakt (on the latest OS) that’s becoming quite frustrating, and I’m hoping you can help me determine whether this is a known bug or a hardware problem.

Quite often, when switching patterns, one of the voices on track 8 starts behaving as if it has a “hanging” or doubled note. When I trigger the sound, it plays the intended note, but when I release the trig it plays again an octave below the original pitch. When a MIDI pattern is triggering that track, this effectively creates a slapback/echo‑like effect at the lower octave, which makes the pattern unusable.

A few extra details:

  • The issue has been discussed briefly on the Elektronauts forum, and other users suggested I open a support ticket, as it does not seem to be a common or documented behavior.
  • It occurs across multiple patterns, not just within a single pattern.
  • The sound on track 8 may have been loaded from my presets or copy‑pasted from another track at some point, but I haven’t been able to pin down a precise reproduction path.
  • The only reliable way to clear the problem is to power the Syntakt off and back on, after which everything behaves normally again.
  • I initially tried recalibrating, but I now realise this isn’t relevant as this is happening with a digital voice. In the specific case I noticed first, it was the basic digital snare drum machine on track 8, but once it starts, the behavior is the same across all digital machines I load onto that track, so it seems like some sort of stuck retriggering state on that voice rather than a problem with a particular machine or sound.

If it helps, I’m happy to provide:

  • Exact OS version and serial number
  • A project or pattern backup where this has occurred
  • A short video showing the problem in real time

Could you let me know:

  1. Whether this is a known issue with the current Syntakt OS, and
  2. If there are any specific troubleshooting steps, workarounds, or diagnostics you’d like me to try (for example, particular reset procedures, testing with a fresh project, or disabling external MIDI, etc.)?

Thanks a lot for your time and for any guidance you can offer.

yes and standalone same issue, also across different tracks and machines, so for example sometimes it’s track 7 sometimes it’s track 5 - it’s a strange double trigger w octave on release. It’s become a constant issue since V1.4

Is this with a loopback cable?

What I am meaning is, does the issue occur with the Syntakt running completely alone, with nothing connected except the power adapter and audio outputs? It sounds like you might have MIDI connected. Also, the fact that the same issue is occurring on two different machines really suggests external factors.

it’s 100% a standalone issue - they both have this - the Tonverk and the Syntakt. They double trigger when the voice ‘hanging’ bug plays the octave up on release of the button or note trigger data for that voice. It makes a total with the program on those voices.

It’s not all the time but when switching between patterns before the end of phrase. Maybe it’s just a stuck midi note perhaps - but no way to reset it aside from reboot. This has been an issue for me since V1.4 occasionally perhaps a stuck voice before but rare. Now is more frequent and on different tracks also. I suspect it’s a software issue not hardware, as it’s the digital machines in particular - When I switch the ‘hanging’ track to midi voice the sound stops. Then when I switch it back to any machine - it hangs again.

I’ve just sent the program file to Syntakt support for review
