Not sure but Softube Central is sooo bad lol. Just randomly stops working.
Ah they have a page of direct installers! Direct installers for Mac - Softube. But it seems you have to activate the licence in Softube Central still, though maybe there’s a way to do this directly in iLok
Anyway, I grabbed it. Some pretty cool and interesting sounds in there based on the presets, and a pretty nice interface, I think I’ll have fun with it!
The included free Wave Alchemy Pulse seems alright if you need yet another reverb too haha. Sounds nice and simple UI.
Nice! I tried the demo, really liking the Heartbeat sound so far but some odd choices were made:
- I could only get External Instrument in Ableton to work with the VST2 version, not VST3 (so I can create a drum rack).
- The hihat synth decay is still pretty long at the shortest setting (the “wave” one is fine though)
- The manual acknowledges the usefulness of the Syncussion-style channels as a source for bassline/melodies but they only support single note MIDI, so you have to manually tune with velocity to pitch or pitch CC.
- No FX out channels, but as a workaround they can be soloed on the master output
FabFilter 25% off sale has begun:
These plugins come up a lot in this thread - I demoed the creative bundle awhile back and it’s the one I recommend picking up if you are unfamiliar with FabFilter stuff. Twin 3 specifically is the softsynth I wasn’t looking for that I ended up really wanting.
I never had an issue with Softube Central on Mac, so only used this.
I bought this kit pack and it really helped me to understand how much you can get out of Heartbeat:
They also add another pack for free.
I use it with Octachron sequencer - just set up a midi profile and you’re good to go. It’s a little unusual with 9 drum sounds. You could also use something like Triaz, as that has an advanced sequencer
Ocean Swift Wavetable Creator is on offer.
and even on better offer at Pluginomat
While it’s still on sale, I’ll add that:
- The hihat decay thing was my fault - there are 2 open/closed hat notes that trigger the same channel and the decay affects them differently.
- I made a drum rack for playing around, but eventually settled on 7 instances of the plugin on separate tracks, so much simpler and more flexible
Heartbeat is pretty good, one of the best Pearl SY1 emulations and, usefully, it breaks out into modular components if you have their (excellent sounding) Modular software.
For anyone not following the Max 9 thread it’s worth noting that Cycling74 have a brief Summer Sale extending to the 22nd of June. Upgrades to 9 or RNBO or combinations thereof can attract discounts between 25-50%. See recent posts in that topic for details.
Visu by tritik is a spectrogram plugin, similar to minimeters. Free for the black & white version, pay what you want for colored themes. Windows and Mac.
Video demo’ing it:
50% off the Digital Drum Dose pack
50% off a specific pack only it seems: 50% off - digital drum dose - use this coupon before 30 june: DDD50FLASH
oh really… thanks for the update
confirmed I just tried it
Warning: besides the IK download manager this seems to require a 2.8GB (?!) installation of the Rack S effect rack plugin
really, you’re saying that just for this there’s a mandatory 2.8 gig footprint?
why would they expect anyone to go for that?
I was expecting it to be ‘just a plug-in ‘ but it’s part of their suite t-racks
I didn’t check the size on mac but it’s a bit bloaty
Eventide Omnipressor is currently $39
