Usually I pop in here on Black Friday to tout the Samples From Mars deal — and I’m doing it again this year! Check it out! Best deal you’ll find this holiday.
But I’ve really been enjoying Polyend’s sample packs this year as well. I like how small and focused they are. And they’ve got a sale going too. 50% off with code BlackFriday.
No worries, must’ve been a glitch or something, would’ve been a hell of a deal - just wanted to be sure before committing. Plugin Discounts have the best price I’ve seen on this so far.
I really dislike the way these packs are organized, to get to a sample you have to browse through like 5 subfolders. Then you just get an infinite list of Kicks that all sound slightly different. Or there are a couple of curated kits kits that are… meh? Sure, it’s a lot of stuff but the pricing is a little misleading, there isn’t really anything special about the 606 pack for example, nobody in their right mind would pay €29 for that by itself.
(Edit to add because I forgot) But then when it comes to actual cool sample packs like the 101 drums, it’s literally a list of numbers instead of trying to give them a suitable name.
I’ve been throwing Five12’s Numerology in front of Metal, put a DrumSeq-16 to play all 12 channels of Metal, setup simple rules to evolve the pattern every 4/5/6 bars in X/Y/Z and I go to town recording the output.
It’s really damn good, I’ve just came out from a session with 16 clips of 64 bars with lots of different percussion, loads of hats/shakers top loops, and a bunch of other weird stuff.
Just wanted to second the sample from mars collection…
And once you buy the whole catalog ($49 I think), I got an email with an offer to update the entire library with all thier new packs for $29 (I think… or $25… Im dealing with alot of purchases… sorry!)
I have no idea if I will use this since Logic and Live both have really good FX and I already own SoundToys 5, but for $49, this was just too good to pass on, so I just picked it up. Thanks for the head’s up on this!
When I was using my UAD Apollo (not sure if I will continue using it now that I am using a Push 3 for my audio interface), one of the few plugins I bought was the Roland Space Echo Re-201 emulation). I can totally see buying an actual Space Echo pedal for my studio–I assume they don’t make those anymore and they’d be hard to find?
Someone on here two years ago talked me into getting a Space Cat Dub Siren… instead of the Benidub… I had to grab an actual space echo if Im rocking an actual Barrington Levy Dub Siren.
And Roland has an updated version in guitar pedal form… same size as a Big Sky or Microcosm, but styled like the actual old school one…
I would post pics, but this is off topic enough… so I think I’ll just pull it out and post a vid in another thread… Ill tag you!
Sweet! Picked it up on the recommendation of this forum looking forward to trying it out. I accidentally purchased the non-bundle version and they got back to me within minutes to refund it so I’ve not got any worries about their refund policy.
I thought I was done with BF! Unsure about the other stuff, but for physical modelled perc sounds this looks absolutely awesome. Might have it on the wishlist for 25 as something to look forward to if I can resist. Had a quick check on the price tracker and it looks like the other plugin went for cheap last year so… No trial is a bit of a bummer mind.
