SW DEALS : Software on Sale

Same way I have been using it, those little indicators where your highs/mids/low are in the mix have been very helpful to get that specific sound that the god particle is really good at. I would say it’s amazing for hip hop/pop etc. I havent tried it on rock/metal type tracks, but my guess is those indicators wont work as well for that genre.

Yeah I use it for underground house and it works well there too. I read that they may introduce preferred curves from other producers as well, so maybe they will have some for rock at some point.

Zynaptiq stuff is on sale at Plugin Boutique, I have 4 in my cart (wormhole, adaptiverb, unfilter and umix:drums) and I’m scared

Note for the UAD-curious, they’re doing a very aggressive new sales tactic for newcomers.

They’re obviously moving from a native DSP solution to a computer-based DSP model and the pricing scheme of the plugins is also in flux. Things are getting much cheaper and if you’ve ever been interested in the UAD stuff, paying attention for the next week or so may be wise.

I’ll note that it seems like there may be a shift in pricing structure for older users based on legit grumbles from long-term users who feels a bit shafted by some of the current sale’s that don’t offer much love to those of us who already own a ton of the plugs. I’d say I own about 75% of the Signature bundle and would happily buy the bundle for $150, but it doesn’t make any sense for me to have to pay full price and they don’t offer any breaks ATM for people like me. My gut says that might change in the coming days. I’ll reply to this post if that happens.

I’ve been using them since the first Mackie/UA PCI-e cards came out long, long ago and don’t regret any of the money I’ve spent on the plugins. I feel like they’re great tools and they sound great.

The current bundle representing the best value for newcomers, IMHO, is the Signature Bundle which has a TON of great plugs in it. Their approach to modeling specific room’s reverb (Capital Chambers/Motown Chambers) is very unique and sounds amazing. The new Minimoog and Rhodes VSTi’s (both Native) are wonderful and are my go-to’s for both of those instruments now. I would guess the B3 and Leslie sims will be equally great. All of the hardware emulation plugs (API, Manley, Distressor, Fairchild, Pultec, Plate reverb, Lexi 224, 1176 and LA2A plugs, etc…) are outstanding. In short, I feel like you’ll definitely be getting your money’s worth and then some.

I’ll note, I have no business relationship with UA, I’m just a longtime fan of their work.

I wonder if this stacks with their 10% email referral code? Anyone who wants to try, DM me your email and I’ll send you one.

I should note it usually stacks with your discount for other purchases so if you are thinking about buying something and you already own a product it’s probably best to buy it via the Fabfilter website and you typically get bigger discounts for buying more in one go.

Yeah I checked this out, and there is an increase in discount per plugin after the first one, right? If you want a custom bundle that isn’t in their line up, you’ll save 25% on your first order, then slightly more on the 2nd and so on. But if you want a bundle you could check the price difference as I’d imagine that could be a decent saving.

Oh those are some great savings and I generally love everything U-He do.

Diva, Hive and Satin are all favourites.

It’s a shame they don’t have Zebra on sale and I don’t want Bazile or ACE as modular isn’t my thing

Any opinions on Presswerk, Filterscape or Repro?

Repro is a nice (to have) companion to Diva. To me, Diva is actually a do-it-all synth despite being a very opinionated and analog one - it can also be quite digital sounding. Because Repro-5 is an emulation of a single synth, it’s a little more narrow in what it does. And you get Repro-1 in there as well which is a mono synth, though I’ve spent more time with the 5. Obviously the Prophet is the thing we’re emulating here, so it’s analogue and it’s as good an emulation as you’d expect. But I find Diva is very good at lush, widescreen sounds that err towards the warmer end of things. Repro has subjectively to my ears, a sharper sound. Can be good if you want something that’s less rounded and nice than Diva, but unlike Diva, there’s no digital oscilators in there, so it’s a purely analogue feel. As ever with uhe the quality is very high, it’s just whether this works for you and your tunes.

so if i buy the one, simplon and micro, will then the rest of the line of plugins cost peanuts?

Sounds like the idea is buy a single plugin (generate your account) and then log in to see your discounts. Maybe others can confirm?

No, that’s not how it works.

Discounts stack so buying one cheap thing results in minimal discount.

The math isn’t very straight-forward here — adding some plugins will increase your discount, others won’t. It’s more like “complete your bundle” pricing than “every plugin you add drops the price”. They just do the adjustments for you (taking into account plugins you already own + added to the cart into account) so you can see what you’d save in realtime.

It seems pretty fair and I don’t think there’s an easy way to “game” it. If you actually want everything in the Creative Bundle, for example, it doesn’t look like you’ll lose out by just buying it with it’s normal discount. If you get just Saturn, and later decide you want Volcano, Timeless, and Twin, you won’t lose out either because their system will recognize you would have had a discount on the bundle and apply one.

I just got the GForce OB-X which like most of their VST synths is for sale atm.

Such an amazing sounding synth. Of course it is not analog but it behaves and sounds more like an analog synth than any of the VST instruments I’ve played so far.

It’s often cheaper during sales, but yeah, they stack. So if you own x plugins you’ll get discounts there every time you buy new ones. The discount increases on subsequent purchases by number of currently owned plugins but also by how much they cost. Some plugins yields bigger discounts but in which order you buy shouldn’t matter too much in the long run.

Buying multiple plugins in the same purchase does seem to yield higher immediate discounts however
