Yeah, but that’s the same deal I get at Ableton, only half the price.
Maybe it’s because I’m in Norway, I don’t know. Nevermind!
It’s starting to get ugly out here. Keep your wallet in your chest pocket by your heart. Remember our spouses don’t necessarily know that this latest piece of digital gear might just be the portal to unlocking world peace…or chaos.
Black Friday getting extra dark earlier and earlier every year. Stay safe out here folks!
My shortlist for BF 23 is short, but partly because I’ve been kitting out a digital studio the last few years and have spent more than enough. I have pushed back on Arturia FX due to the sage advice of @monquixote and others. And despite my attraction to all things Valhalla, I’ve resisted everything except Soundtoys. Everything else has been sample packs and courses, which of course always have their uses. I have this thing that I’d like to try Serum so I’ve currently got Vital dressed up in a Serum skin, but I do fancy RTO’ing the wavetable grandad. I’ve not plumped for that UAD bundle and gone with Kiive (so far). Otherwise, I’m happy with my haul. Not sure if that’s useful to anyone gassing, I’m probably not a good example having been in build & explore mode for a bit! I’ll post some free stuff maybe if that helps…
I was planning to get v collection 9 this year but got komplete few months back and still working through those so may leave it until next year and get 10 which should have minifreak and the 303
Would those issues be resolved if you used an ilok dongle?
If not, then I’m absolutely passing on it too
EDIT: from UAD’s info, it’s seeming like you can just store the keys on the usb dongle and not worry about internet and their app.
Sorry, but you sound like an addict who’s about to crack!
Hang in there buddy!
So I did some testing myself regarding the UA connect app (no ilok dongle as I don’t have one).
UA connect automatically opens when you instantiate a plug in, which is okay I guess, but what I really don’t like is after I close Logic completely, UA connect remains open on the backend and just hangs out happily doing whatever it does.
I don’t like that at all.
After reading their docs, it also appears UA connect must open even when using ilok dongle.
I find that a bit annoying and don’t really want to support that process. Not to mention that I would have to spend another $50 or so on a dongle to not have my computer connected online all the time.
Oh well, I just saved $200 then
Heh. Yeah I can come across that way, (and thanks for the concern.) I do have compulsive traits, no doubt about that. Though that also extends to overthinking purchases, (including many that never happen.) In software, and in life, I tend to go all-in for a while, overthinking and in some cases over-doing it, before disappearing and forgetting that the thing I was overthinking even existed.
I know exactly what you mean. Take’s one to know one
My method to avoid buying everything I find shiny, is to never give in until I’ve spend at least a few weeks with the demo, exploring it and just giving the gas time to seep out… It works most of the time - mostly…
This was apparently a glitch and its not available anymore for that price. Guess i was lucky.
Ditto…but to be fair I wouldn’t have paid any more (not saying it isn’t worth more, I just didn’t need it…it’s mainly compressors anyway ;-))
I just realized I’ve yet to spend a great amount of time with the “deals” I got last year
Must stay restrained …
70 new replies, 5 containing deal. WTF people?
Make that 71…
I enjoy the conversation that goes with the deals.
I’m really not a Waves fan typically but the NLS and Scheps omni channel are pretty dirt cheap right now. IMO, they are a lethal 1-2 punch in about any mix. I used to use the brainworx SSL (they are great too) but I am getting crazy control of some denser mixes with these plugins. Seriously good, imo. The NLS really does nice saturation and the Scheps is incredible for that too. This is a great combo if you are more into channel mixing then summing into saturation on the mix buss as opposed to compression.
Plogue have a sale on their excellent chip synths:
I’ve got many reverb, but I’m seriously considering this bundle:
Nice deal!
This bundle (today) is $290! looks like it was a 1 day thing (mistake) only!
I love the Arturia spring reverb a lot. Their Reverb Intensity (?) is quite nice too for certain things.
Not every plug-in from Arturia is a winner, but there’s enough good ones to justify the purchase for me at least. There two compressors I really like. The DBX one and the Tube STA. I’m thrilled to have my Soundtoys bundle, but have found many of the Arturia effects useful. Which reminds me I need to get super plates!
The god Particle is on sale for $79. I can vouch for this one personally. I know it may seem like a gimmick since it is based on an ozone preset but if used correctly it is a game changer for anyone who is pretty good at mixes, but wants to get them to the next level.
What you do is set up your master bus chain and mix through it with the limiter on. This lets you hear how your tune will sound when mastered. It has some gauges to suggest the levels of your lows mids and highs but i dont make pop/r and b so I dont really follow that to the t. What the gauges will do is help you see if you have too much low end or mids. Hell, you will hear it if you have the limiter engaged.
I typically boost the mix to around -8 lufs at the most and listen for any distortion or harshness while I mix. Been a huge help in balancing my 909 open hats and transients in general.
Best advantage of this for me is I stopped mixing through a buss compressor and now just saturate in stages with the god particle last. So if you want to get really good, balanced mixes and are prepared to spend some time learning the plugin and remixing some old tunes to get a workflow going, im super happy with the balance of my kick and bass now and how glues and warm I can get my kicks without losing definition.
I think this plugin pays for itself if you are shopping tracks to labels. If used properly your premaster will be loud in a good way, which always helps since louder is better (unless it sounds like shit, which is another topic). Then when you send to mastering, just disengage the limiter on the GP and you should have good headroom for mastering.
This plugin, good console plugs and vision 4x have been a massive gamechanger for me at least. I compared old mixes to new ones with these plugs and it was almost cringey how much better my mixes are now.
