I will also say that its low end response seems very well calibrated. Most compressors without high pass side chain would suck the life out of the mix. Though I still wonder how it ‘d respond to a mix with heavy hats and rides rattling in the highs too.
Thanks!
Yeah I actually picked this track because of the pads. It made it really obvious how it effects the sound. Could have maybe chosen a second track. But also a matter of keeping the video within a certain length.
You can see the peak indictation on that meter as well (above the level meter). It’s also obvious from the green level meter. You can really see it catching the peaks and thus making it possible to run your liveset a lot louder than without.
Yeah indeed. It really keeps the vibe of a track intake. I did try it on heavier techno (my live set) and the result is just as impressive really.
A nice look and a nice box… like you said it probably appeals most to someone making there living off of playing live but I think there is probably a more extreme hobbyist crowd is really into mastering gear that it might appeal to also.
Curious did you ever get that sort of guitar pedal looking mastering box that was much cheaper? Would be interested to know how you got on with that.
Any chance to make some A/B audio comparisons of that? Just audio, not video.
thanks
That Cheesy Instruments pedal is still under construction. Bit of a delay bit it’ll arrive when it arrives
Definitely will be making a similar video to this one.
Unfortunately I don’t have the IMC here anymore and didn’t record audio of that.
You deserve it for free ! ![]()
Haha I wish
Hah, yes [raises hand], there is definitely a more extreme hobbyist crowd that this is made for.
I really like your “more extreme hobbyist crowd” terminology!
It’s now available in system-500 format for €1499
Now that is nice
Completely missed this video. Very insightful! Thanks!
I saw their post on Instagram about the 500 series. It does look pretty nifty! I’ll be using my IMC live at a show next month, I love that little unit. I didn’t expect a 500 series unit since the original idea was compact and mobile; bringing a lunchbox on a plane or to a gig seems counter to that but it does have a lot of great studio uses too. I use my IMC in my studio to top off the drum bus in my own productions (and I cheat a little and use it when I’m digitizing my old vinyl to give it a little more oomph)

Good to hear that some people use it as intended, out of all the solutions which have been recently tested.
Same here and if you have to bring a lunchbox, you may as well bring one with 4-slots and put a stereo compressor and stereo EQ from Wes Audio in it (same price on sale as the IMC). That gives you more flexibility and total recall to automatically adapt to the track currently playing.
i seem to rember seeing a pic of luke slater performing live with laptop and a lunchbox (possibly with some elysia modules)
I got it last August and have used it for every show I’ve done since. I went back to hardware-only performances and while I could do without it, I wouldn’t sound as good.
True that, I’m on the east coast USA and when I played LA in February I needed all the hardware to be carry-on. Blackbox, Bluebox, IMC, Typhon and Polyend Play are just fearsome together and fit in a backpack. I love my 500 series stuff (the Cranborne Carnaby EQs are awesome) but it’s not practical for travel, and those little things get HOT
TC Finalizer has MUCH MORE to offer for mastering…
I digitally inserted a Behringer DEQ96K to equalize with its mike, add more mastering tools.
trying to find one of these for my end-chain 4U rackmount case, there are some of the original 48khz finalizer wizards out there ~$300 so maybe one day i’ll get lucky…
or a finalizer 96khz will fall into my lap! rolls dice
I have the Finalizer Plus I’d recommend over OG one. 48 khz but very similar to 96k version. It just lacks the Stereo Image feature, which doesn’t seem essential.
