I am hoping to glean some perspective from other composers’ experiences.
For almost two decades now I’ve worked pretty much exclusively with hardware synths and classical piano somposition. I score films and have a solo project.
The sounds/styles I work within range between early electronics music and modern-classical.
I work on Logic and with the exception of some generic string and woodwind sound packs that I heailyy process with effects to reach the desirable sound I rarely use software synths. I use logic primarily for tracking and effects like Soundtoys.
I feel completely stuck with my current tool arsenal. I want to create different types of sounds and not sure if I need to look at other software, other sound packs, or something else (Komplete? Ableton?).
The sounds I am trying to create are 1) “physical” sounds like a wooden ball bouncing on metal slowly accelerating. Or the sound of a piano key hammer moving too fast. And 2) high quality sampled classical instruments (that could emulate Hollywood orchestra sounds, if that makes sense).
Would love any advice.
Thanks !
