Holy s***!
This time they didn’t left anything to the boutique counterpart!

199,- That’s 4 years of Logic Pro on iPad. Yeah I just said that. :stuck_out_tongue:

Looking at their color map, I’m wondering what will be the other 5…
A mini SP should be next :fire:

I was just wondering exactly that!
They’ve done the big hitters Juno, 101, 303 and 808 (sorta) already

Jupiter 8? This time with 8 voices unlike the JP-08?
For $199 that would be out of this world

Logic’s subscription is really not as deep as you think it is.

This new Rolca with the chop/draw and better sequencer seems to really be on a different level. Much more capable than the other rolcas and the Korg volcas that inspired them.

Forgot to mention the midi CC seems to not be lacking on this one either.

Go Go Roland!

Woop! I wouldn’t get it to replace a SH-01a due to the sliders, but for a portable 101 it is irresistible.

Hope the CC implementation is rolled out to the other Aira minis now.

  • SH01a for the studio, durability and the look (I can’t imagine getting rid of my blue edition).

  • S-1 for the portability, fun and couch sessions

Damn Roland, this time we can’t even find anything wrong in it to resist the GAS

a cigarette packet sized, battery powered SH-101 for Ā£180? i avoid ā€œtoyā€ synths but this one is a no-brainer. roland will never stop being a bit cringe but it’s hard not to be impressed by this one

If the T-8 gets midi CC it’s instabuy for me!

Damn, just a couple of days ago I said I’d like an SH-101 with knobs.

But not like this, Roland… not like this.

There’s always the SH-4D if you want something a little bigger

True, the SH-01A probably meets my needs a little better tbh - I feel like the sound of an SH-101 is only part of the puzzle - this new S-1 doesn’t seem to have any expressive input which is quite important for getting the vibe IMO and I’m getting carpel tunnel just looking at it. But it’s clearly winning folks over so Roland seem to be onto a winner with it either way!

We’re spoiled for choice really when it comes to 101 clones/alikes, in wide range of form factors

S-1, SH-01A, SH-4D, the Behringer MS-1 (there’s likely even more)

I will admit sticking the MS-1 through a tonne of distortion and reverb and f**king about with the mod-wheel and portamento for an hour making doom-drone is some of the best fun I’ve had.

As well as motion sequences it can do p-locks, very cool!

The draw and chop functions are very inviting. I went straight to look up cc destinations and alas we cannot address individual slices in the waveform. I was all-in if that was possible.

Edit: Never mind, a bit unrealistic of me to be expecting audio rate midi. Chord shift might suffice.

Edit: Then again, modulation would not have to be synced to every cycle … Re-imagining the flexibility of this feature now and can’t help feeling they would have my money if each slice was open to midi cc. LFO per waveform slice would be dreamy …
